Caddy Buying Advise

Post by markmcie »

Hi all,

So am in the market for a Caddy 2k after selling on my mk2 Caddy. Am only really interested in TDi and clean vans with good service history. Budget is around €5k.

The one I am going to view is blue which I think is nice and not so common from what I can see. Mileage is 103,000 km's but good service as in recent timing belt kit, clutch (need to verify if flywheel was done but dont see why not), DOE test just passed, 2 owners and described as mint inside and out. Will view it anyway but couple of things niggling at me.

It has 4 spoke wheel and no elec windows / mirrors. Not the end of the world but I am wondering when the interior got the facelift ? 2006 seem to have 3 spoke wheel.

What else changed with the facelift, anything exterior wise ? Just wondering should I hold out a bit longer and see what else comes up ?

There is another white one that could suit, 2006 with the interior 3 spoke wheel and lecy pack but not sure if its TDi which I need to confirm. Full service, just in from UK and fresh DOE which is great.

Anway, Im in a delima, as I want something quick but at same time dont wanna regret it. Blue is swaying me but lecy windows are missing. White, while noting wrong, doesnt grab me as much.

So what u lads think ? Can I retro fit the windows handy enough without costing a bomb ?

Lovin the forum. Great info on it. Looking forward to hanging out here a bit more and hopefully getting some mods on my new bus :)

Cheers

Mark

Oh, and any of you lot know of any decent vans on the market let me know. Dont really want to stretch the budget much more as it would mean flogging my Passat TDi sport and I dont wanna do that.

thanks for feedback lads.

In your experience, have you come across many Caddy's being broken (mk2's are ten a penny) ? What would the chances of picking up genuine lecy windows further down road be ?

well considering the 2k is such a popular choice with reps and small fitter firms general van lovers etc i'm sure with the laws of average there are a good few lying in scrappies
