Hi all
Yesterday I installed some turtle roof rails on my maxi. They come with sponge stickers and then you use there provided silcone sealant in the sponge stickers which go around the bolt hole.
Sadly the bolts didn't just go I striaght in down to them slipping on the silcone so now I'm worried the silcone bed will be slightly messed up.
How easy are the bolt holes to leak?
I'm thinking as a procaution to take out a bolt one at a time use plumbers tape and tru blue thread sealant to be sure or is that over kill.
I'm just concerned I want find a leak as everything is carpeted and ply linked
What do you guys advise?
Thanks for taking the time to read

Re: Roof rails
I’m pretty sure the bolt hole goes straight thru, so i would use some sealant tape as a precaution, maybe a washer and gasket if there is space for it.

Re: Roof rails
Cheers no space sadly or I'd have gone fkr a washer just annoyed the instructions didn't recommend.
How many wraps round of the tape would you recommend?
Thanks again

Hard to say, but a couple of rounds so the threads are covered should do it. Just make sure the tape doesen’t slip. can also try some silicone under the bolt head.

Re: Roof rails
If anyone reads this and has brought the front to back rails like the turtle brand ones I would recommend using the tape. 2 out of the 8 silcobe beds that go in the sticker where not full and prob would have leaked.
I used about 3/4 wraps of plumbers tape on the whole thread going clockwise missing out the first two threads.
Then I used tru blue sealant over the tape whoch is a flexible sealant good with vibrations.
I'll report back if there's any leaks I doubt it though
Thanks
