Locking and dead locking.
Hello all,
First time caddy owner, with a slight possible issue.
If I click the lock button on my remote it locks everything.
If I double click the lock buttton it locks but then unlocks the back, seems a bit odd as most vehicles tend to deadlock by double clicking lock.
Any ideas? Or guidance?
Dave

Re: Locking and dead locking.
I'm fairly sure you have a problem if double push on your lock button unlocks the rear.
From memory it is described in the vehicle handbook as the first push deadlocks all doors, a second push releases the deadlock so someone on the inside can get out if they need to.

The front remains locked but all rear doors open

Check your handbook but I'm 99.9% sure that's not correct.

Re: Locking and dead locking.
When you say “double click” you mean in quick succession or after a slight pause?

Re: Locking and dead locking.
Just to clarify....
It's not the "alarm" LED. It signifies whether the deadlocks are activated or not.
One press - deadlocks on - LED fast flashes for a couple of seconds then slow flash every couple of seconds.
Two presses - deadlocks off - LED fast flashes for a couple of seconds then off for 30 seconds then slow flash every couple of seconds.
Two presses does not disarm the interior sensor. This is done from the door pillar button only.
LED permanently on signifies fault.

Re: Locking and dead locking.
DaveN - I wonder if your key fob may be faulty. It sounds like the middle button which unlocks back doors only may somehow be being activated.
Have you tried the spare key?

Re: Locking and dead locking.
I’m afraid my spare key is the poverty stricken non fob option. So not possible. It is a strange scenario I must say

Re: Locking and dead locking.
Is there a solution to this problem ? I’ve just bought a caddy and mine unlocks it’s self when you double press the lock button but only the back door all the others remain locked .

Re: Locking and dead locking.
Is this a problem or just a residue of these vehicles being first and foremost a van which may on occasions double up as a crew van/people carrier?
I have not seen this behaviour on our Caddy Maxi but our T5 Transporter does what you describe so it may not be faulty. Single press everything is locked. But if you press a second time immediately after the first, then our T5 Multivan releases the tailgate - but other doors remain locked. Perhaps this is of value to tradesmen who just need to access the load area but wants the cabin secure?
I did try and follow the German language user manual and eventually worked out the simple answer was to only ever use single press. The manual did imply your VW dealer could change the locking options - but what options would be available depend on whether its got one or more sliding doors, and whether it has a tailgate or barn doors.
