My advice is to source parts from Germany and Poland.

It's generally much cheaper to ship from the EU rather than the UK.

ebay.de has loads of ads in Englush and if you can find someone who will ship out of the EU you can get some bargains.

Hey Dude. In SA working through a number of mods at the moment.

I have been reading through a few of your posts and noticed the actual outcomes from your experimentation are missing eg the cluster swap.

I have a high line cluster and am looking to do the swap, just unsure of what equipment to purchase and the procedure, if any (apart from coding the keys).

I haven’t read anything recent from you, so not sure if you are still playing with your caddy.

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers.

It certainly is CaddyMelbourne! I was just over your way this weekend for Good Things Festival.

I’m checking out a Mk4 dash tomorrow. Believe it or not, I have managed to find someone here in SA with a stash of gear. I think he has three Caddy’s that he is wrecking - all Mk 4.
Let me know if you need anything and I can hit him up.

I have sourced the lowering kit, glovebox lid, Audi A1 two tone leather seats (black and grey) and a few other bits and pieces. It’s hard to know if there is a place on this forum where the Aussies can help each other out. This forum is so big it takes ages to find the material you need.

Anyway, happy to share my limited experience to help out.

Hello and welcome,

There is already an 'Australian members' thread kicking around here somewhere.

The guy on ebay in SA with the mk4 he's wrecking doesn't respond to ebay messages. I tried to buy off him 3 months ago.

Parts for modifying is harder in Australia as we got a more limited range of caddy models', and obviously no Touran.
You'll find we do get a better average spec of Caddy here- all have AC and electric windows for instance.

Yeah, so... not very helpful.
He buys crashed damaged vehicles from the east, repairs them with his stash (according to him - 100+) Caddys. He quoted me $1500AU for the dash, and of course I wanted the heater box to fit upgraded parts I have already purchased. He knows he has the Caddy market stitched up. I thought I had struck it lucky. I have tried so many wreckers in the UK and they either don't respond or say they courier can't carry it. To buy a donor vehicle is going to cost around $13kAU. We are very much stuck with small bits and pieces or need to fork out extraordinary transport costs. Anyway, enough bitching, back to researching... love Caddys...

You would pay less than his dash quote for a whole smashed mk4 caddy at the auctions.

It just depends if you're able to transport and store a whole van to wreck it yourself.

I forgot to grab the top dash went piece from the heater box when I pulled my mk4 dash from a wreckers.
Keeps me up at night....
