2020 Caddy 5 press launch and information

Post by the swan fiend »

Well it does look better, that for sure. I’ve seen their vans before online and they do seem to make them look good.
It looks lowered, I wonder what lowering kit they are using if it is. Golf mk8 maybe?

As I’ve said previously, a custom front bumper would do wonders for it I think. It’s just the side rail.

I was reading yesterday that VWCV UK have allocated all their 2021 stock and most of it has gone to these "dealers" outside of their own network who add some modifications and pump up the price.
It's a bit embarrassing that highstone have fitted an old generation R badge to a new vehicle but that only goes to show the brand awareness of some of these companies.

Looks like I'll be contacting VW Ireland anyway as UK don't appear to be taking in any Petrol engined vans which comes as a shock.

That side rail. I think we can all agree that it’s the biggest issue, that and the loss of the “smooth” look of the swb

Yep, have to agree on the side rails, although I am slowly coming around.
Surely VW could have canvassed @Doc, and similar forums from Europe a year or two ago ? On what Caddy owners would really like, but hey Ho, in bed with Ford it seems. So disappointing as they are great vehicles and so versatile 😢

Yeah, there are too many things I dislike about this caddy, it would take a huge amount of work just to bring it back up to zero. Some of the elements honestly look like they have been designed by a boy racer.

I won't be buying one.

I have seen very few positive comments about this vehicle.

The front and back end look nice but I agree with the rest - the sides don't look nice to me at all, especially around the back wheels

Im assuming the the guide rail for the side door is Aluminium? If so why not remove it and have it hard anodised in the body colour ? Wold then disappear somewhat in my opinion.
Now remapped to 145 BHP

I always assumed it would be steel mate as it’s harder wearing. But if like you say, it’s aluminium then that’s a bloody good idea.

Had a good look around one today, my opinion hasnt changed, the best mod is some 95 Ron and a match.
That front bumper grille is an eyesore, the rear panels remove the stylishness of a 2k caddy, the side rail stuck out like a sore thumb on it. I didn't like the seats, seemed very hard. Some things can be changed but the important bits would need serious fabrication or buckets of filler lol.

I don't know what highstone motors are using to lower theirs with but it looks like they need to revisit that area and get the stance right, they all look higher at the back.
