Android head unit

Post by T-Kaddy »

Newby here, posting number 5.
Is there anything like the RCD 330 Plus which is more-or-less plug and play but for Android, not Apple Carplay? This is to fit a 2014 Maxi Life.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hey there!

Welcome from another newbie.

What do you not like about the RCD330? Have you looked at the likes of Pumpkin or Xtrons (both needing a dongle to use wired AA or CP.

:)

Hi McCaddyGascar
Ta for the reply and I hope you're enjoying life in Caddy Land. I looked at the Pro and it just said it had Apple, not Android. It does seem a bit restricted though in other ways. I have a nice capacitive 8" HD screen Chinese one from my last van but it took me ages to get that one sorted so was looking for a simpler, hopefully hassle-free option. And I'd like my rear camera back too. Have you got the 330?

Second that. RCD330 serves Apple and you can get one for Android as well, I fitted the No Name for Apple in mine, it was plug and play, perfect fit, looks factory and ran reverse camera from it 👍 with no issues

Hey bro I'd suggest the xtrons pq90mtvl. I've got one in the caddy and it's perfect. Can just download apps on it and don't need to piggy back off the phone. It's super fast and looks awesome with the huge ass screen and even connects up to the highline dash for the radio! Shows mileage and a few other bits & bobs like door open notifications so guess it connects via can network. Can hook a reverse camera up to it and even has cabling ready for a sub, extra usb inputs etc etc. So easy to expand on!Image

Forgot to mention. If you really want, you can add android auto or apple carplay to it with a single but in all honestly I don't think it's needed, being that it's practically a tablet within itself! I hotspot for wiffy off the phone and it autoconnects each time :)

A good few choices here, thanks all for the input. Some head scratching to be done, especially with this redundant Joying unit lying here, but very unsure about a harness for it. I may be asking more questions.

I’ve had and installed a few RCD330 over the years I’ve always gone back to them just because they are clean, easy and good quality!

I was just trying to find a page that detailed the difference between the different part numbers but can’t find it annoyingly!

I will also be trying this, looks really cool and a great alternative to the old head unit...
