Yes it's normal. Conditions required for Stop/Start are not met. Things like engine temperature, battery charge, overall electric load, etc, etc. Or if you undo your seatbelt the stop/start will not kick in.

Cheers mate, only owned it since Saturday didn’t really say that much in the manual. Just took it a run as I’ve just cleaned it and it’s all working fine

Is there any way to reverse the stop start feature so that you need to press the button to turn it on rather than off every time you start the car?

Yep, you'll see it as not available when battery level is low, engine not up to temperature, electrical consumers are on too high, cabin heat is required, plus maybe a few other times.

I've seen a module to reverse the operation so that it's turned off every time you turn the ignition on. I've never seen one fitted but the operation is quite simple so can't imagine they are a straightforward fit and forget.

It can be faked, but not completely switched off. If you know a way of truly switching it off with VCDS, please share.

Nice one for all the replies guys! Learn something new daily, stop start was only really just coming out when I left the trade.

Cheers for the info lads. I'll get it plugged in and see what happens, the start stop really annoys me 😅
