You have to take it apart, remove PCB, etc.

Middle Fan Speed ring is a right B&$¬&£D to get off !!! The middle knob is clipped in very firmly and the ring has to lift it up as you pry up the ring itself ...
Got it free eventually and then had the same struggle with the donor panel (A£$E)

Mk4 Vs MK3

Mk4 Climatic (lower)

Mmmm
Nice
:)
Note(s)

Left knob only fits Left position, & vice versa.
Only right Temp sensor works on Climatic, both are dummy sensors on manual A/C

A lot easier if you undo the screws and take it apart. Everything would unclip easy, no need to pry or risk of damaging.

Sort of ...

Giddy Method.

Before removing from Caddy set controls to memorable positions
e.g. Mid Temp / Off / Screen.
Or your choice.

Quality T10 driver needed (Pro-Tek not good enough)
5x Screws

Little clips all round are quite easy, but some force is required to pop out the middle knob (again) which holds everything together strongly.

Popped off the fan speed knob, sparated sides, note the two pots that have to align with the control knobs for reassembly.

You can pop out the knob centre covers/push switches from the back.

Round the front to remove the knobs, and it is gloss cover removal, and legend rings off. Then knobs pull off easily.

Centre cap pushed out from the back, try not to move anything ...

The legend rings, and knobs come off pretty easily.

Reassemble with all as noted ...

How did you pop out the middle control (fan speed control) without damaging the legend?

Did you pry between the knob and the legend plate, pull with the entire back plate (once unclipped) or… is that two little slots on the back I see, which you maybe shove a terminal driver down to push the control knob off from the rear?

I’ve tried pulling apart with a little force, but don’t want to break anything.
Cheers,
Liam
