Re: Caddy van 2.0 vs 1.6 tdi
Generally, if looked after, they’re both pretty reliable from what I’ve read on here. The 1.6 suffers with the occasional wonky injector but don’t let it put you off too much.
There’s a few threads discussing this topic on here, have a poke round and see what others opinions are. Me? I’m happy with my 1.6. Enough power for me and £20 a week diesel

Can't comment on the 2.0tdi but my 1.6tdi suits me well. Maintenance is the key imo. Good clean oil/filter & engine cover a must on 1.6.

Re: Caddy van 2.0 vs 1.6 tdi
I have a 2.0 TDI and it’s bullet proof. We only got the 2.0 TDIs here not the 1.6 versions in the caddy in South Africa. My last caddy had over 300.000km on the clock and no issues. Loaded stage 1 software at that mileage and it put out more or less the same as my current 2.0 TDI with 120000 km. As said just regular services and maintenance is needed to keep it in good working condition.

Okay, Nice thank you very much for your advise everybody !
this weekend i’m going to see a caddy van 2.0tdi 102ps dsg 6 gearbox from 2017.
Did you have any advise with this automatic DSG gearbox is more reliable than a manual gearbox?
Best regards

Have the 1.6TDi, I came from a VW Transporter & I have to say I am very pleased with it. Its 102 bhp which is plenty for me & the fuel consumption is very very good. Never driven the 2.0 but sure it will be very good also.

As far as I’m aware, there were a few issues with older DSG gearboxes, but modern ones are reliable. It’s worth considering that should a DSG gearbox fail, it usually costs more to repair or replace than a manual box.

Re: Caddy van 2.0 vs 1.6 tdi
The torque on the 2.0 is outstanding, after seeing all the regular injector problem posts I personally wouldn't get a 1.6 but many get on fine with them.

Re: Caddy van 2.0 vs 1.6 tdi
I've had a caddy 1.6 since new in 2013, had the injector issue like everybody else but 90K and still going strong, put a map on it about 5 years ago and made it even better. I drop the oil a lot more frequently than they recommend, always think that helps with a diesel

Depens on wich 2.0L you are going to use
BMM = reliable
PD150 = Reliable
Those engines i have tested and tunned pretty hard aswell. 1,6L havent i tested mutch so i cant say anything about them. I would really like to know about the newer 2,0L like DFSD etc
