Heating issues

Post by The Ledge »

How's it going everyone I just had the timing belt and water pump done on the caddy and I have noticed when the van reaches 90 on the temp gauge if I put the heater on the temp gauge will drop.
This is not happening when driving along but when I am going slow or in traffic and put the heater on.
Is this normal ?

Drop as in instantly or over time?
Its normal on any vehicle for the temp to drop when the heaters are put on, it's a good way of getting an over heating car home but if its an instant noticeable thing you might have an air bubble in the system.

When the heaters go on it will hold at 90 for a few seconds and then drop.
It kinda fluctuates then slightly until the heater is turned off.

Hello I have it the same on my 1.6 tdi caddy. When I have to heat and not going fast, the temperature of water is dropping (when outside temp is under 5 C). If i turn off heating, it stays on 90. Do not trust that temperature anyway, it is not showing the exact value.
