Arm rest installation

Post by Ryzar1 »

Hey guys got a hold of a proper arm rest going to
Try my luck installing it I got the special bolts and all the screws that came with just had a few questions first one is trimming of the rear is that necessary if you don’t have a bulk head I still have the bar from the raised floor though also I have glued a leather gaitor on the handbrake do I have to remove that to unscrew the casing or can that be left on any advice would be appreciated cheers.

Yes, you have to cut it, it's the floor piece that gets in a way.
You don't have to do anything to a handbrake other than detach the cables.
It's all pretty obvious and straight forward, once you start doing it

Armrest cost nothing in comparison to rebuilding the floor, in case you need to. But it's up to you, you can cut the floor if that's what you want to do. I've seen somebody has done that before.

If you plan on fitting rear seats in the future then cut the floor....
Cut two slots and bend the lip down that way you can bend it back and weld it back up if you ever need to can't do that if you trim the plastic Image.

Love this.
Plus you have the DSG which I do.
Regarding the armrest parts, are they just the same for a manual gearbox as a DSG gearbox? All the ones on eBay don’t specifically say so I don’t want to end up buying one that won’t hold a DSG
Advise welcome!
Plus is there anybody in Manchester that could do this thanks

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t make a difference between dsg and manual I’ve since then done a rear seat conversion

Since getting the van I've been crying out for an armrest.

Do you know the part numbers involved or this come from a donor car ? Touran?
Sorry if I'm lagging behind here, I've not seen anyone retrofit the centre console like that before.

I was considering buying one of those cheap jobs, kind of like this...
Amazon Uk - Search : AB1 flexzon Black Pu Leather Armrest Center Console

Would love to do something like your job.
