Cheers guys. Perhaps not in the same league as Matts project but fun nonetheless! I've only had the van 2 weeks so good that its moving quickly but its costing a small fortune!

Matt - I think I paid about £200 for the Golf R bumper about a year ago so prices not coming down. I've had this plan for a while and have had the bumper sitting in my workshop.

For anyone that wants to know (caddyaddy - I can't pm at the mo) the method for the bumpers is:

Plastic weld using PP+EPDM sticks

Filler is Wayside Adhesives Plastic Filler. They have an eBay shop. Comes in 1kg tubs so cheaper than buying isospon bumper repair filler from Halfords but its similar stuff.

Then its getting Touran Xenons fitted by Hazzy Dayz - I already have the lights but they are sorting out the control units and ballasts.
Unreal build thread, that bumper is wicked! Are you getting your stock headlights modified or getting brand new Xenon versions....this is something i'd love

They are brand new Touran/Caddy xenons from VW. Got the lights but Hazzy Dayz are sorting all the control stuff. Not bothering with the levelling units, active cornering or washers as would become insanely expensive. As it is the system requires new cecm, ballasts, led drl control units, and wiring adapters plus coding. Already costing a fortune! Hopefully lights getting fitted sometime next week or the week after.

I managed to fit a W8 interior light into the Caddy. The plastic aperture needed some holes cut into it to allow the locking tabs on the light to engage. I need to wire it into the dimmer switch at some point so the red leds light up.

I picked up my VW loadliner and fitted that too.

I then started work on the rear bumper. Its a Golf R rear bumper which I've trimmed and plastic welded to the Caddy bumper.

Needs a lot of filling and sanding and I'm not 100% its going to work as I never test fitted it!

And I've just been late night ebay shopping and may have bought another Golf R front bumper and a Touran bumper  I'm tempted to have another go at a slightly different method to making this bumper and maybe useful knowing how to make more of them for the future!

Hehe, sorry Matt! Late night and an ipad in bed are dangerous for ebay shopping! I'm nervous I can't sort the debadged grille doing it the way I am so figured I could build another bumper but using the Touran parts which means I can always leave the grille part until later if I run out of time.

I managed to trial fit the rear bumper. Been swearing a bit as its not easy taking it on and off as you have to simultaneously get it under the doors and hooked onto the side rails. The crash bar has been trimmed slightly in a couple of places to allow the bumper to sit right and it still needs a bit more tweaking and obviously looks bit weird with the 4x4 suspension!

Image

As a side note, the 2011 Caddys seem to have less in the way of bolts holding it on. There are 2 T20 torx screws in each wheel well and then 2 T30 torx screws holding the bumper to the crash bar which you can see if you lie on the floor and look up behind the bumper. Or maybe the guy that fitted the parking sensors when the van was bought didn't bother reinstalling the other 4 bolts!
