Stan-The-Man-With-The-Van build thread

Post by stan-the-man »

Hi everyone,

I decided I might post up a build thread of my Caddy here instead continuing in new members section.
She is 1.6 TDI 75BHP in solid gray. I also have mk4 R32 so didn't really need powerful van as it wont carry super heavy loads either.
The factory extras include:
-Trendline pack (RCD310, BT, Rear parking sensors, Color coded bumpers, mirrors, handles, cruise control, pockets under the seats)
-Light and Vision packs (Bi-xenons, h/l washers, cornering lights, auto dimming rear view mirror, rain sensing wipers, auto lights)
-Carpet in cab
-Heated windscreen washer jets
-Climatronic
-Heated seats + upgraded fabric
-12V socket in rear
-First Aid kit and warning triangle under the drivers seat
-Passenger airbag
-Hill Hold
-Front fogs
+ I might be forgetting something :)

Was waiting for her about two months so this gave me a chance to gather up few additional extras I wanted to have. I pretty much stick with OEM mods/parts with my cars but If I see anything nice aftermarket I will have it too. Will try to post part numbers of what I used to keep everyone informed. ;)

This is the car as I picked it up:

I will start with OEM door sill set: 2K0 071 310

I was worried about application but it was actually quit easy. Everything is included in the box: instructions, 4 x door strips, cleaning wipes, soapy solution. Just mix the solution with water in some spray bottle, wipe the sills with alcohol wipes provided, spray the sill with solution and line up the sill strip. Once the sill is lubricated it will move around so you shouldn't have trouble lining it up nicely. If you feel it starts to catch the sill and you didn't manage to line it up just keep spraying solution on it. Then with provided squeegee start squeezing out the solution from under the strip. While you do this you will notice it starts to stick nicely, keep running it gently and then I used microfiber cloth instead to keep squeezing excess suds out. Its handy to use someone to help too. Once we started next strip we always went back to check the previous one to make sure it didn't lift anywhere and gave it another wipe with the soft microfiber.

The result:

Stay tuned... ;)

Thanks lads!!!

I really didnt expect the Caddy to be so nice van to drive.
To get rid of some of the road noise coming from the back through the bulkhead, I got this installed today.

Motexion solid bulkhead with window and with textile on cab side 8)

Took the van for a spin and there is a big improvement ;)
I had a small issue fitting it as the screw holes don't fully line up with original mounts, but this is easily sorted without any damage. It seems all or most Motexion bulkheads have similar issue as we fitted non textile version to my pals Caddy too and we had the same problem.
Also in my case I removed the roof in order to install it, so I would recommend to do so too if you planning on fitting one to a Caddy that has a roof lining in the rear. I didnt put it in back yet as Im in process of fitting some led lights to pimp up the rear a bit

To be continued...
