My Caddy 4, 1.4 TSI, Acapulco blue

Post by Giddy » Tue Jan 22, 2019 7:35 pm

Ok, so first things first. It's 1.4 TSI, manual, highline. I've been driving it for about 6 months now and have to say, I'm pretty happy with it. It's my daily driver and very practical vehicle for my biking/outdoor weekends. I'm not using it for work or carrying any heavy load.
Finally decided to create this build thread to keep the track on my mods, show what I've done, get some advice, help and suggestions. Hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I'm enjoying modding it.

Done so far:
  • Fitted pespex sheets to the bulkhead
  • Fitted undertray
  • Sound deadened and fitted original carpets behind the seats
  • Tinted barn door windows and added sun strip
  • Fitted tinted tail lights and tinted 3rd brake light
  • Rear wiper deleted
  • Lowered with AP coilovers + changed all rear bushes to Poweflex bushes
Nearest plans:
  • Fit the rail cover, rear spoiler and colour code plastic trim above number plate
  • 18" or maybe 19" wheels
  • Nice pair of heated seats
  • Caddy life mirrors and puddle lights
  • Bixenon or maybe custom made headlights

This is how it looked the first week of owning it, all still standard.

First thing I've done is fitted perspex sheets to the mesh bulkhead, to cut the noise down. Made quite a bit of difference I have to say.

Then fitted undertray to keep the engine bay clean

Sound deadened and fitted original carpets behind the seats. This further reduced road noise a bit.

Started sound deadening in the back. Fitted Silent coat to the side panels, wheel arches, roof and floor. Need to carpet next.

Fitted tinted tail lights.

Lowered with AP coilovers. Rear is on the lowest setting, but front still can go about 3cm down. May need to get superlow shackles from Darkside, as I still want to go a little bit lower :)

I know it's a bit of a boring question but what sort of mpg are you getting with your van ? I'm looking to buy another caddy and given the current downer the powers that be have towards diesel vehicles I'm looking at all options but trying to make an informed choice.

Around 39mpg mate, but it's crazy hills around here and I drive mostly on B roads. Once on motorway it's over 50mpg.

That's actually a bit better than I thought it would be, I did look at the official figures but they should come with the required pinch of salt ;)

Bit the bullet and picked up these beauties the other day. Decent condition, manually adjusted with electric lumbar and heated. Ordered new heating control panel with heated seat buttons, still looking for heater module. Also started looking into what's required to fully wire them in.
