Great thread mate ! Just ordered the skirts to finish off my alltrack maxi , concearned as to why they’re £250 Nearly and come in two pieces ? Any reason for that … surely if they’re made for the maxi they would just be the right size ? Cheers

Hi @Sandstorm_caddy

I hear what you're saying mate, but as you know, getting bits for the Maxi is a bit more difficult say than sourcing bits for the SWB, there seems to be loads more choice ?
I was looking at going Alltrack skirts, and would have had to shell out for pretty much two full sets plus fixings etc ? and then have to cut them up anyway.
The skirts from RK are in two parts as you say, and mostly for packaging reasons I think, but my body shop were OK with them, as they were able to make the minute final adjustments/fettling prior to fitting up

Hi mate , the skirts came today after some stupid customs charges amongst other things

To say the quality is poor would be an understatement! The edges look to have been cut with a blunt hack saw , there’s no rolled edge to marry up to the sill , literally sharp edge of plastic . No idea what to do , cost nearly £350 in the end and it looks like I’ve been sent some household guttering

I’ve no idea how but I’ve totally missed this build thread. I’ve just had a good read through. Van looks amazing mate! The side skirts look factory. The steering wheel is something else too. Top work all round mate

Thanks for the comments Pete :D
@Sandstorm_caddy I'm very surprised by this mate, and gutted for you, I'm sure it was the same for @Mark1a, but mine when I opened the box were absolutely fine mate. I think it's fair to say that he even got a few quid off the fitting of his as the body shop he used priced against possibly having to work with Poo, and found that they were pretty straightforward to fit (I'm sure he'll chime in).
Might be worth having a word on the side with the supplier ? as it sounds like their QA arrangements let this one through the net ?

Mine is back on the road as of today, and have brought it in to work today for a run, heading back to Kent on Friday for Easter :D

Agreed - and yes my body shop commented on them being "excellent quality for aftermarket, I've seen some utter cr*p before", he'd quoted me £400 for fill, paint, fit & finish, and then when I picked picked it up, he charged me £200. The job had taken less time, he'd quoted for poor quality GRP, including a day to make good, in the event he didn't need that day, as being ABS, they came out fine after filling & painting.

Obviously being in multiple sections, they will need joining and I think any body shop will acknowledge that the join will need filling before paint (see @Ripley55's photos of fitting), but I figure this is normal.

Anyway, I'm really pleased with mine, they look absolutely OEM factory (Dave sorry to contaminate your build thread with Blackberry).

I think whatever they have sent me are either the wrong thing or done on a Friday afternoon , the top edge of the skirt is literally a striaght Peice of cut plastic , no rounded edge . I don’t know how to add pics to here but if either of you have Instagram , drop me a DM to @sandstorm_caddy and I’ll send you some pics so you can tell me if you received the same item / quality ?
