it looks good for £1200 and 200k mile. Is that your Scirocco behind it too?

You defirnitely have to keep hold of that if you can. I love the old VW stuff, I've never had a Mk1 Golf or a Scirocco but have had 5 mk 2s, 2 Mk3s, 1 Mk4, 2 Mk5s, a Mk6 and now a Mk7 (and a caddy). A good Mk1 Gti is now mental money so that won't be happening.
