So I'm having the same trouble although I have trimmed the plate on the inside so the seat belt is in the inside. You caddy, the blue 1 seems to be different than mine and Dan chambers.
The problem I'm having is the external panel seems to be in the way. I've even trimmed some of the plastic housing on the seat belt as dan did. But I still can't seem to get it to fit in. Actually that is a lie. It did fit in but only after the coil spring exploded with trying to wedge it in. Now I'm question is are different seatbelts available and perhaps I have the wrong type. ( I'm talking about passenger side)
