Life expectancy of a caddy
Brought my caddy on 61k just over a year ago and has now done 79k in this time it hasn't put a foot wrong and runs perfectly. After looking at all your caddys on here I want to take it to the next level and start spending money on it, but realistically how much longer does it have and when do things start going wrong?

Re: Life expectancy of a caddy
I should imagine how well you look after it an service it??
I saw a few for sale when buying mine with over 150,000miles on them stil fetching £4/£5k fully modded.
I brought mine in march with 76k and now it's got 99k, hasn't let me down and it's having its 2nd full service since I've owned it tomoz.

My old caddy had done over 140k and was still going fine. Just keep changing oil and 200k should be achievable

The TDI engine is the sake that's fitted to Passats and Octavias of similar age. Ask a taxi driver what their Passat or Octavia has on the clock and how much it costs.
Many make it over 400k.

Whenever the dash says, these engines have so many sensors that they know when a service is due.

I've always changed oil every 8 to 10 k. It's not expensive to do.....so why not

1.6 tdi i recon by 100k will need money being spent on the engine, tis no where as refined as the 2.0 tdi or as bullet proof as the 1.9.

Other half was a getting a bit twitchy about her Avant getting through another winter (dunno why, it's serviced/repaired as reqd) - a 1.9tdi currently at 210k and 11 yrs old, on the 19k/extended service intervals. She went to look at some Skoda equivalents, one of the other customers in for a service was taxi driver with about 750k on his Octavia.Doc wrote:The TDI engine is the sake that's fitted to Passats and Octavias of similar age.
