rear doors saying they are open

Post by fenwick458 »

for some reason most of the time in the last week when i go to drive off the screen tells me the back door is open. then i get out and have a look and it doesn't look like it's not shut properly.
whats the fix? adjust the door, or do something with the catch?

my drivers door one (sensor)also sticks sometimes (thinks door is always shut, interior light never comes on when the doors open), is there something that can be done to fettle them up?

also sometimes i go to open the back door with the fob and it doesn't open, but it looks like the left barn door hasn't latched properly and as a result the central locking doesn't open it up. so the only way to do it is manually by sticking the key in. why is it doing this?

it's not the sort of things you would expect to happen to a VW really, it's like it's been built by the french

Switch in the latch needs cleaning, we seen a LOT of these when doing the cluster swap.

Just developed this issue cluster says rear door open when its not. I can get it to clear by locking the van using the button on the drivers door but as soon as I unlock it thinks the door is open again ggrr.

I’m currently having this problem. I’ve insulated the back door (a couple of months before the fault) do you think this is the problem?
Could you possibly give me a dummies guide to what needs cleaning?

Thank youuuuuu

The switch in the bottom catch of the larger barn door is, imo, a poor design.
The electrical connector points straight up, and invites water to pool in the connector receptacle.
I've found that to remove the whole assembly, and dry it out for a couple of hours, then add some grease/petroleum jelly to the electrical connector and it's receptacle usually cures it.
