Windows misting
Recently carpeted the back of my van. Anyone else suffering with the front windows misting up recently?

Re: Windows misting
If it’s on the inside it’s normally a bit of dampness somewhere inside. Such as a damp carpet

Re: Windows misting
Could also be worth checking the pollen filter but as brooneye says, points to moisture somewhere. Could it be the water in the adhesive you used for carpeting the rear evaporating?

I've just realised I sponged down the bulkheads and hosed them and don't think I let them dry enough. Doh!

Re: Windows misting
campers and converted vans are meant to have trickle or air vents to stop condensation happening.
My old T25 and T4 had them and once id insulated and carpeted they only just managed.
With the veltrim type carpets on walls and roof it captures moisture every time you've got the door or windows open, even worse in this cold damp time of year.
Another thing with modern vehicles is you can't manually turn the cabin heat direction to recycle when you park it up at night to stop any cold air coming in.
Or does it auto stay on recycle when you shut down the engine??
Maybe worth retro fitting something?

Re: Windows misting
Check underneath any flooring you’ve laid, mine was sodden, I had run the carpet lining down off the wheel arches onto the floor, also did same round rear door frame and water somehow percolated in past door seal , along carpet on floor then dripped down onto carpet in foot well behind/under drivers seat leaving it soaking and stinking. Cured it by trimming all excess carpet back, hope this helps

Re: Windows misting
I had a small amount of water in the pan under the drivers seat, dried it & put in a dehumidifier & no more misty windows

Re: Windows misting
So I reckon I've discovered the issue. The van would have a clicking sound when reversing and spraying the washer fluid. When pressing the recirc button I get the clicking.before it goes into the garage I guess it's the recirculation valve

Re: Windows misting
Always worth a quick look, the one in my dads fabia had half a pint of water in.
Sorry chaps, much as our 2k looks nice, I prefer my Mk2.

Re: Windows misting
I only got my van a week ago and with the cold nights drawing in I had misted windows the other day. I've now got 2 silica bags on the dashboard permanently and not had the problem dince!. Worth a try

Re: Windows misting
I've changed the pollen filter as suggested. It still isn't right and today I've taken the lh speaker out due to an unrelated issue. Turns out there is moisture in between the door panel so I'm thinking this could be the culprit

Re: Windows misting
Further update - removed both door cards and got water in both doors. Any suggestions as to the cause?

Re: Windows misting
This has been happening to ours but nothing seems damp carpetwise, didn't think to check the pollen filter, thanks.
