Re: Project Charmaine
You’ve got a nice set of seats there buddy.
Looking at the carpets the only difference is the touran ones have a rear storage compartment in the footwell

Re: Project Charmaine
The quality of the carpet I’m sure would be the same. As I’m sure VW wouldn’t be arsed to change the quality of the carpet for a Touran or van. Second the bases are higher but not much. Your issue will probably be leg room. Which there isn’t a lot you can do about that. Removing the bulkhead will give you space to recline the seat or cut a hole in the bulkhead for the seat to recline, the hole is kinda hidden by the seat back once it’s reclined like some people have done.

Re: Project Charmaine
Awesome thanks for the advise all.
Just started some work on the back of the van tonight. Some absolutely bell had fitted a Yale lock on the back and done so like a cave man.
Removed that and removed the vw badge.
Also removed the lock on the back door and removed the plastic trim.
Sheet metal work on the weekend if I can get some good doner parts from the scrap yard. Number plate recess to be made smaller for my private plate and get rid of the plastic at the same time.
Ps Doc if you read this please give me full access haha.

Re: Project Charmaine
Bit of work last night making the rear end a little more to my taste.
Wasn’t a fan of the design of a basic or painted trim.
Also the number plate recess is way to excessive.
Initial first fits below. Still a lot of work to do with the lock repositioning, cutting, metal finishing, skimming, etc.
What weekends are for right ?

Re: Project Charmaine
Another update, touran dash I got off a seller on Internet was damaged unfortunately so trip to local scrappy and they had just had a touran in.
Dash removed from the touran in about 1 hour. Really straight forward. Got a feeling putting in the caddy won’t be as easy and fast.
Damage on the glove box and it doesn’t have to correct trim but for £40 for the dash was a no brainer.

Re: Project Charmaine
Thanks. It’s a fair bit of sheet metal work and metal finishing. If I was charging in a body shop for this sort of thing Id want a fair bit. Am worried about the release handle in honesty. May be a compromise somewhere

Re: Project Charmaine
Yeah, I imagine it would be expensive as there’ll be a bit of trial and error involved.
I’ve never seen this mod done before though so I think you’ll be blazing a trail for others to follow.

Re: Project Charmaine
Bit of progress on the van. However I must say it’s hard work dealing with people for touran parts.
Been messed around with being told parts and working (armrest) and arriving and they are broken.
Door cards like a dog has chewed them. Etc.
Really getting on my ....
Anyway. Got a touran dash from my local scrappy. Somebody beer me to the door cards.
Done some progress on the back end.
Debating a colour change to pure grey...
New number plate that I had to pay through the nose for thanks for the furlough scheme getting everybody minted.
On the market for polo gti steering wheel
Got over a grand on the TPS account waiting for a single part that’s on back order before before I collect.

Personally I like the grey you have. What colour did you think of changing it too

Re: Project Charmaine
The registration surround mod has turned out great mate. You must be pleased with that.
I like the grey too, but the colour of that Bentley looks wicked! I’m looking forward to seeing where this build goes mate.
