I'm not far off this stage now ..what insulation did you use ,is it self adhesive or spray ..plus are you putting sound deadening over the top ? ..I've took the rubber floor out in the front and the insulation as it's flat and smells .. I don't want to put the rubber back down as I want to put a nice carpet ..does anyone have any suggestions on the insulation and carpet ? ..cheers

Replaced all suspension components for oem and billstein b4. (210.000km) way way better but not as steady on the highway as my bmw.

I assume caddy maxi’s are more stable at 130km/u? I drive everyday 4 hours on the highway so this is very important to me.. any tips to get mine better are welkom.

Also want to wire up my mk7 gtd heated seats, but are not allowed to that part of the forum. So if there is anyone who can make screenshots of the wiring loom and want to help. :)

Kufatec only makes caddy to caddy seat wiring loom.

@betsy123. How do you mean unstable?

I changed my wheels (195 65 R15) for 205 60 r16. this helped with stability a tiny bit. So tire profile can make a difference.

Also, have you had tracking done? if you have a your toe angle wrong or dead 0.0. it can make the car/van feel like it wants to wander around a little. a tiny bit of toe out is sometimes used to make vehicles run straighter.. Also, sounds odd, but is your van heavily loaded, and if so is it even? if you have all the weight on one side, it could make the van feel a bit unstable..

I've not experienced it myself, but some people mentioned movement in the rear suspension spring assembly can make van 'wobble' at speed. Mostly for lowered vehicles. You can get 'wobble blocks' which stiffen this area up a little to reduce the issue.

I mean like wind affect the car more than I would like. Which is only an issue at “high” speeds

The car is on 205 55 16 original steel wheels and pilot sport 4 tires. 205 55 16 winter tires it is even worse due to the soft sidewall. There is about 400kg in the back. Ofcourse I did the allignment after Al the suspension components are replaced

it might be 'normal' then, I've noticed my Maxi is affected by the wind, if I'm on an open road at speed. But the wind effect feels pretty much the same as other vans I've used. It's much much more noticeable that my cars.

Used it to collect the next bit of the puzzle. Managed to get a really nice condition dash from a Touran complete with all brackets, ducts, airbag and fixings etc. for the princely sum of £40!

There's a couple of marks on the stereo surround but I'd need a new one anyway as my heater controls are electronic with no mechanical connections.

Today, I'm sitting inside it while I wait for the AA  . Bloody great hole in the rear tyre, no idea what caused it as there's nothing in it now. Got the AA involved as I'm away from home and the van toolkit is in my garage  . Just hope they can get the spare off as I've heard they can be a bit of a bugger!

EDIT - Finally got home. This is what the AA man found when he removed the wheel. I can't even begin to imagine how that got in there like that.

is the original entry hole just above the P on the tire?? this would make sense. if you drove over a piece of wood with the nail.. entered at the P, went in and then out again where we can see, while tyre was compressed.. absolute nightmare

Been back to where I used to live to collect 2 audi A3 S-line seats, an arm rest, free steering wheel and pick up the new Headunit.
Before the 100 odd mile trip and back I went to pick the van up from the garage.
It went in for possible wheel bearing and clutch switch.

Now...... I before Xmas it had new glow plugs and rear nearside caliper, disc and pads. Why both side weren't done I don't know. This was a different garage

Keep up

Place I had the switch done today said rear nearside caliper siezed and disc and pad shagged.

So.... Went to the original garage and complained. Its going back on the 17th. I'll be asking for their receipt for the parts to see if they even did the work. I'll be going to the small claims Court if they try charging me. I'll kick up so much fuss they'll wish they'd never met me

Put some new wiper stalks in this evening for cruise control and extra trip button.
Airbag was a bastard to get off!
Just to code them in now prior to the next road trip.

Installed an 20,- underrtray from a golf 6 gtd on my caddy. with wintertires it is a world of difference and can recommend it to anyone! Just need 3 m8x20 bolt and 8? Screws with clips. Way more quiet on the highway!
