Diesel leak off clip replacement
Injector number two is leaking diesel the return pipe clip is loose it’s got a lot of movement in it, more than the rest of them. How easy are they to remove and replace please ? Do you need any specialist tools to fit them. I’ve tried pushing it back in but it just pushes out it’s not as tight as the others. I think this is causing the diesel to leak a pool around injector one and two. Is it a simple job to buy some clips a replace them myself or do I need to visit a garage please an is it something they will have or have to order in ?

Have you tried some new o-rings on the spill pipe? I don't believe I've ever seen the end pieces for sale separate to the complete spill pipe assembly.
The metal springs I'm sure are available from VW.

The pipe is a tight fit but the metal spring clip is under no tension at all you can remove it easily. I thought that was supposed to be sprung into place to hold the pipe. I just wasn’t sure if to pull the metal spring clip thing out looks like a paper clip a replace it. I didn’t want to get the old/damaged one out a not be able to get a new one in an be in a worse situation. Also I wasn’t sure if I went to my local garage would they have any or would they have to order some in ?

I can't advise on the stock situation, that would require a call to VW parts department.
What I will say, the clip tension is not very important in holding the spill pipe connection into the injector. The clip sits into a cut on the connector which if damaged may prevent the clip from engaging or holding correctly.

Re: Diesel leak off clip replacement
I’ve just replaced the leak off pipes on mine. Not sure if there is a special tool for removing clips or not. I just used needle nose pliers. You need a decent set though and a fair amount of grip strength. Might be better with needle nosed vise-grips.
Mine was leaking at No 1 injector and I tried a cheap set of new pipes but they didn’t stop the problem. Didn’t seem to fit well at all. Ended up getting a set of genuine ones. A much better fit and so far no leaks.

Re: Diesel leak off clip replacement
Personally once they start leaking I would get a new set and genuine too as cheaper ones don’t work and leak virtually straight away. We had this with one of our customers recently and the difference in quality is unreal. Genuine ones are a nice firm click when pushed in. Tool wise nothing special a pair of long nose pliers or a pick will do the job
hope this helps

Re: Diesel leak off clip replacement
Sorry for resurrecting. When you replaced the leak off pipe, did you use any sort of adhesive to connect into the main spill line or is it just a compression fit? About to replace mine and don't want to pull it apart if I need some sort of adhesive to put it back together.Ian1903 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:44 pm I’ve just replaced the leak off pipes on mine. Re: Diesel leak off clip replacement
Thanks. Fitted it and yes just a push fit. I have had issues with the leak off pipes popping off the injectors (only in 2 locations). I bought a Bosche leak off pipe which looks identical to the OEM one I removed so I don't think it's an issue with the pipe. Also replaced the clips with new from VW.Caddynewbie36 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 3:38 pm Hi no I think they are all just on push on pipes no glue or paste needed thanks.
Any ideas anyone? Is it likely the Bosche pipe is a dud or something else? Bloody diesel everywhere and smoking like a chimney from under the bonnet. Tempted to buy an OEM one from Dark side but the one they have has the green o rings and mine has orange which is what LLL parts suggests also. Is O-ring colour dependent on leak off pipe only or is there compatability issues with the actual injectors too?

Re: Diesel leak off clip replacement
So I've just had it out for a good 40 minute drive and no more leaks. Is it safe to say if it was going to pop off and leak it would do it right away and it's not something that might happen in a week or two's time? My other half drives it mostly (it's a life so she drags the kids around in it) and don't want her stranded.
