Stowage

Post by stu_b »

I have a 2012 Maxi RHD
Looking to put a stowage compartment but LLL pic shows LHD
is the following universal for LHD and RHD models - looks like the config is suited for the LHD only ie 1/3 split section?
is the following part (#1) JUST the lid or is it the whole complete unit
I dont have a 12v electric socket in my upper centre as the diagram suggests....
therefore, I am guessing (my original part #3 - 2K5858122 71N - anthracite) becomes obsolete and surplus, is this right ??

# 1 - 2K5858329 75R (anthracite) Stowage compartment - upper centre

need some help / clarification
also, can this be obtained from a donor car in the VAG line up of models or just specific to Caddy ?

Thanks
Stu

Ps excuse the pic quality, if u zoom in it clears up for some reason 🤠

Mk4 part, LHD only, caddy specific, can be fitted to a mk4 dash with a bit of work but doesn't look right as it's angled, no other vag group part is a direct fit.
Always at least one on ebay as people buy them then realise they don't fit, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275845323874 ... R8yG752GYg
I once saw a caddy life with a correct one so was somehow available somewhere at some point.
I set up to make them but got shouted down by someone else saying they were going to make them for sale right after i said it so I gave up and in a recent house move scrapped the moulds, wish I hadn't because the other person never did anything as far as I know.
Here's some reading for you https://www.caddy2k.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=44940

You should dust off the moulds and get some made up
Must be plenty of member and owners interested in this stowage compartment ... I know I would like a RHD version 👍

Ryzar .....
Where did you get this from ?
RHD ???
Any issues with fitment etc ?
Can you remember the part number ....
Was it just the lid you got or was in the base unit as well

As I say I threw the moulds away, I made 1 for me which I actually sold on before I used it myself and never got round to making another.
I decided I was going to go a different route of having a screen moulded into a cover thats removable. The screen will show vehicle data read from the obd port. Simukarvto the scirocco gauges are fitting but an electronic version with multiple parameters displayed in electronic gauge form.

Whole unit mate with lid just popped out old compartment bowl and popped this one straight in
I can’t seem to get the part number off previous purchases unfortunately but took me ages to find one pop up on eBay and from memory I paid some ridiculous

Ryzar
Half your luck eh
Looks like it's a complete unit plug n play
Old one can be a spare or sell it

Would it be too much to ask to pop the new complete one out to get a part number ....

Unless someone knows the part number for a RHD or is the LHD & RHD the same

I'm still sorting out house stuff so I've not got back to any projects yet.
The plan is to make a mould and lay up some carbon fibre my thoughts are if it's going to be hard to colour match I may as well make sure it's definitely different than the dash finish and carbon fibre never gets old looking.

I have the obd reader and the screen I just need to get my act together.

Also just noticed auto correct put obd as old so I've corrected that on my posts.

It's just a plug that transmits data through Bluetooth a poor man's vcds that you can leave plugged in basically. Cost a couple of quid from China.
