Looking super great 👍

Edit:
Mk3 Graduated screen tint looks the part (thanks for info). Shame Mk4 rain sensor makes this a non option :(

Made a start on stripping out the back and sound deadening it. Then went and got some new front speakers and an amp.
Have gone for the hertz Mille pro components and an audison sr4.500 amp. Will go back and try a few subs once it’s wired in but will be a small one under the seat.
If anyone has any of the above kit or tips for install feel free to share 😂

I did nothing but stand there and nod whilst someone from Superchips remapped the Caddy. Still counts, right? 🤣

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated , Happy to hear my vans basically 100% still original , Apart from the wheels and the missing airbox of sort in the engine bay . Im going to look at the ETK and see if there are parts that I could purchase to cover up the wiper nuts . It just looks so incomplete to me . I see the touran shares some parts with the caddy 2k, i wonder if that under bonnet insulation would fit the bonnet and if that car had covers over the wiper nuts .

So an update , I have since replaced all the ABS sensors , cleaned the seats finally , there were some marks on them , Repaired the reverse lights , now both work . I took both tail lamps off , cleaned them up , replaced the seals and sort of foam around them , clean the contacts and replaced all the bulbs ,
all rear lights now work perfectly .

I will admit the engine sound scares me a little , im really not used to an engine being this noisy , then again iv also never had a diesel engine car before or such a stripped down car before.

Replaced one of the window winders which was damaged , Now at least the round part that you grab wont fall off every time you try to open or close the window .

My Aux input came for the radio , will fit this one of the days but I have noticed that there isn't a slot for it to go into , I only seem to have 2 slots on the center console with one taken up by the ASC button and the other much bigger then the Aux port .

I still need to properly wash the undercarriage , I don't think its ever been washed before .

I want to install mudflaps on the car as well , to prevent dirt from splashing up against the sides , You know normal cars really do spoil us lol I miss even the basic stuff that I have on my E30 that this van does not have, but I do understand this is a work vehicle so its expected .

Are there any differences between the Panel van and the normal vans? are they built differently ? Stronger?

So what was just a , get it clean, and fixed, has now turned into a restore every bit , replaced all missing covers , bolts etc and upgrade it a little .
This will be my delivery van , but id like it to also have a few of the comforts that im used to in my normal cars . So will def be adding the complete alarm system , central locking with auto lock at 20km/h and rear PDC . Im so happy that the previous owner looked after this car and kept it as original as possible .

This morning I had a helicoil fitted into the gearbox where the lower engine mount bolt had stripped its thread. When I got home I wired up an inverter to my leisure battery so I can charge my E-MTB from the van. No excuse not to go away riding for the weekend now.
Next up is getting hold of a set of seat bases so I can fit the 3 door A3 the seats that are sitting in the garage. That will give me access to fit a water tank in one of the rear footwells.

Removed the 2nd row seats for cleaning, vacuumed all the carpeting. Getting sick of the bad cigarette smell left by my van's previous owners. Then I got access to a VCDS cable and software. This allowed me to finally enable automatic door locking after reaching 15 km/h and auto-unlock after removing the key from ignition. Sadly, could not find cornering lights, instrument cluster sweep and all the other cool adaptations I see on this forum.

New bumper brackets as I’d knackered the old ones by having the bumper off every other week and treated myself to a magnetic plate kit. I did buy a splitter as well but took it back on account it looked crap.

Thanks so much ! Will visit the dealer and see if I can order them , Yesterday , I cleaned the seats with my extraction cleaner and fabric cleaner , Its like night and day now .
These seats clean up so well . I also placed an order for an OBD scanner, code clearer sort of device , Iv read that it can also clear the ABS code so hopefully that works otherwise , I hope it could at least tell me whats wrong , Cant seem to get any software working on my PC for this car so this would be the next best thing I guess . Visited the scrap yard today and they were kind enough to give me a few odds and covers , so installed them. Still missing a rubber cap that goes on the side of the passenger door .

Zippy320, re the ABS alarm, my brother had an ABS alarm showing on the instruments in his 2004 Polo. The VCDS readout suggested an ABS controller fault. Having checked out the wiring, with no success, I almost gave up, but I then discovered the problem was a failed high current fuse in the engine bay fuse box. Over 18 years and 50,000 miles it had cracked due to thermal stress. For the Mk4 Polo, this is apparently a common issue, but I don't know if it is likely to affect the more recent electrical system on you 2008 Caddy. Probably worth a quick check anyway.

Thanks so much! I will def be having a look at all the fuses , Its the only light that's on in the dash , I purchased a VW specific OBD sort of devices that says it can clear ABS codes etc , I will try that next if the fuses are ok . I disconnected the battery as well for around a hour and the light was still there so there must be some actual fault .

This morning , by chance I drove past a scrap yard and noticed a touran in the yard , stopped to have a look at it , and they gave me the Bonnet sound deadening mat with all the clips that I was looking for. As well as the rubber grommet that I was missing on the passenger door . Fitted it on this afternoon , It fits almost perfectly , Had to make to slight cuts on both sides so the mat would fit perfectly on the bonnet , I then fitted the grommet and now the door is complete. As this is a panel van its kind of Void of a lot of sound deadening and comfort features , its geared towards being more of a utilitarian ? vehicle .

Car feels so much more "complete" now when I open the bonnet lol , was just so odd for me to open the bonnet and not see the black cover on the bonnet . I have noticed a drop in sound as well from the engine when in side . Next step small is to find those wiper caps and sort out the ABS , but its getting there slowly.

Iv removed the rear bumper cover this evening to clean it and clean the body behind it as well . Will leave that for sunday .

Today I mounted a mfsw and now I have cruise control. 😀
It was easier than I thought. The only issue I had, was to take the airbag off.

Today I wired in a new inverter out of an ambulance and put 240v sockets into the back of the van ready for work and running power out of the van

Thanks , R10 is not bad at all ! , Today I visited the dealers to purchase some kind of missing air intake pipe box for the van , Couldn't find it at any scrap yard and the two that did have it wanted over R1000 for it! Madness , So I thought before I buy it let me see what VW charges for these pieces , its like 3 plastic pieces that make up the part that attaches to the plastic fan shroud at the front of the engine .
VW sold me all three pieces for R530 inc vat Lol I kid you not . They will have it at the dealership on Wed for me .

I asked them about the caps that go on the wiper , they tell me the panel van versions do not come with this cap , but their ETK does show that its available , those cost R50 each . There are alot of transporter vans around yards these days due to the gov auction and I tried fitting on of those caps on the van but it does not fit for some reason .
I may just buy them from VW . After that the van should be at least 99% complete in terms of missing parts that it should have . I noticed I dont have that plastic under tray this afternoon so will find out about that and its missing an engine cover , but on their system it does not even list a part or picture for the engine cover for this van so I don't know .

My OBD thingy reader / fault clearer gadget came today and I managed to switch the ABS light off , I checked the fuses and all were good . I haven't moved the car from its position after turning the light off so will only know if it worked after a short spin i guess .
