Thanks so much for the awesome info! I went to VW this afternoon and got a price for the part , its like R1700 for the piece , they had one in stock , I had a look at it and was really hesitant , The one they had in stock had no squares or foam on it or any sound deadening material . It was to costly for me , So I took a picture and visited a scrap yard that I knew had a golf 5 , Found the cover and because it had a slight crack on it and they gave it to me :) It was identical in every way to the one i saw at the dealership , I repaired the crack with some plastic welding , then used epoxy to seal it on the other side, taped the engine facing part with metal tape and now just waiting for the epoxy to dry overnight .
Im so excited lol

The thing is , its not a full plastic guard like my other cars have its kind of like this one in the below link that you shared with me , same with all the vw part numbers and stamps on it like the one i saw at VW , I cant imagine how much water is it supposed to prevent from splashing if its only half a splash guard , but that's how its supposed to be apparently . The part number is 1KO 825 237 AG

For now though , I cant complain, apart from the crack part that i fixed, which is barely noticeable , its under the car and nobody sees it and it will serve a purpose so im happy :) car is Kind of complete now , as it would have been when it left the factory , Apart from the wheels . Now im just hoping that the car has all its mounting bits for the tray still attached .

Everything else though from now on are extras , Still contemplating those R100 wiper covers lol Damn R50 each for two plastic beads . Its not easy finding caddy parts at scrap yards .I like the FUll cover Mk3 thats in your link , Will keep an eye out for those .
Still new to VW
Still getting used to the smell of a diesel engine .

Good to get a cover for free.

Keep a look out for the full version with the plastic dimple sheet !
I am sure it must be a bit better (it costs more).

Hey dean was there anything fouling the driver’s side that needed modification, mine is perfect on the passenger side but something wrong on driver’s side, I can’t really see anything fouling it but ain’t had it up on a ramp so not quite sure

Today I finally fixed the coolant leak on my 1.6tdi. It was a slow leak so was difficult to find but anyway, it was from the hose clip that holds the pipe onto I think the egr cooler from the heater matrix if I’ve got that right. It was a nightmare to get at but at least it’s finally fixed. Next is to replace the coolant pump 2 which is throwing up codes occasionally.

Thanks so much for the info and advice , really appreciate it , I fitted the panel on this afternoon and it fitted perfectly , every bolt lined up perfectly and every piece snapped into place at the front as it should . With my luck though , the screw in parts were missing , but I managed to put together a set of screw in clips and bolts from my BMW parts bin lol , it went in perfectly and screwed on tight . I couldn't find any place to screw in the middle back section though , there's holes there on the plastic but nothing really there to mount onto .

Car feels soo much more complete now , I think in terms of how it left the factory , this van is now 100% complete . :D The sound absorber foam that I used from a touran really completes the engine bay well . Still need to figure out what engine cover would fit and which cars would have this engine cover, and get the covers for the wiper nuts . The plastic strip thats at the rear end of the load bay is a little scratched up and has a crack on one end but I think its pointless replacing it as even new one will get scratched up again in no time with loading and unloading .

Now I need to fix the dents and make it a little more comfortable to use , Flush mounted PDC , Central locking and An alarm that must lock the doors at over 20km/h . Dont care to much about electric windows , These are not as tough to open as that of my E30 and id rather have less to break on the van in the long term .

I am also contemplating , replacing the radio with one that has a screen so I could connect a camera to it at the back as well but I want to use an OEM radio for this purpose . But that would be done last , the current radio is like new , don't think its ever really been used .

Have a look if you can get a touran dash in the scrappy it makes such a difference I’ve done that to my caddy and it feels so much more “car like” takes the commercial feel of the hard plastic dash away.

You have the 1.9tdi engine?
Maybe have a look for a mk5 Jetta TDI engine cover think it would fit. Not 100% sure?
Like this.

Yup , 1,9 Tdi BJB engine . Thanks for the info , that really does look like it may fit . It has the oil cap seems to be in the right place but the filler stick is more in the lower center . I will keep a look out .

Was it only the caddy that came with this type of engine? I have seen other VW TDI diesel engines in cars , in scrap yards and they look very different from mine . Even saw a 1,9 TDI caddy , with a different looking engine , the oil cap was at the bottom left where as mine is on the top right .

I upgraded my interior by replacing my radio with an RCD330, unfortunately it wasn't as straight forward due to the canbus, but one canbus emulator later, and it's all sorted, might look into swapping out the canbus module at a later date, as it's a bit annoying it doesn't remember the time!

Hi, sorry to hear. Did you sort this one out?

I just bought a 2012 1.6 TDI. Ran it through the carwash today and got the following lit:

- Safelook error in instrument
- Engine fault symbol
- Diesel engine pre-glow symbol
- Airbag symbol (with multiple different colors)
- Might have been some more..

So I think I might also have some water somewhere. Looked in to the scuttle and I do see some leaves, so might the drain I clogged. I probably also need to check under the floormats if I find actual visible water.

The van is at van hux south For the first of the inside build ( as both my knees are stuffed ) and can’t bend then or stay kneeled for any length of time Image

Had to replace injectors, ended up with some seats and looking forward to information on the sound deadening for the rear.
