Finished off the sill lights today, the MK2 version looks a lot better with the tinted cover to bring it flush with the trim and much prefer the red LEDs, do it all over again on the driver's side now when Iv figured out how to get the bonnet release handle off without breaking anything
Finally finished changing the cambelt today so thought I would fit the alloys I bought a few months back; massive improvement on the old rusty steel wheels, and because the van had barely moved in the last five years the tyres were all cracked. The alloys came off a 2022 Caddy Calefornia and are in immaculate condition. I’m not a great fan of big alloys so these 16” will do. A new clutch/flywheel is my next task….!
Busy week. Had tofly to the UK for work so was online shopping.
Ordered a new set of D2s xenon bulbs.
Ordered new front Meyle HD drop links. That will be everything but the rear leaf spring and hanger bushes new.
Bought a set of 15 inch coloundra alloys will pick up tomorrow when home.
Picked up my touran seats last weekend, just need a good clean.
Ordered a set of Vibe component speakers and more sound deadening.
Ordered a set of led tube lights for the back.
Booked it in to get the aircon gassed after retrofitting it.
Will fit my Alpicool fridge freezer in the rear and two 90ah gel batteries under the passenger seat with fuse box and charge controller hopefully at the weekend just need some more 16mmsq panel flex.
Things to do:
Find a solid bulkhead
Figure out what steering wheel controller is required for a mk6 Golf mfsw.
Need to find the left hand side silver trim for a touran dash as mine is damaged. Also a black cover for the ax controls.
Today I’ve been trying to find where/why my rear wiper has stopped working, after removing the rear door boarding all the doors closed and engine running I have 12-14v on the 3 white wires so I’m a bit stuck. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.
Took a week off from work and stripped down all the plastic in the cargo hold completely. Got it deep-cleaned, which it sorely needed. Enough sand back there to create a small beach. Got it lifted up, and rust-treated the underside. Detailed the entire driver cabin. A lot more pleasant to sit in now!
Finally completed the optional Leather Parts Pack or whatever it is called: the steering wheel, handbrake handle and gear lever knob are covered in leather. All used OEM Touran 1T0 parts. As usual, it was a PITA since I had no instructions on how to disassemble the interior trim pieces -- all trial-and-error. Also fitted genuine rubber mats for the door pockets, cup holders and storage area behind the gear lever. I wanted to keep my old black shifter boot but apparently it does not fit the leather knob design.
Next up is fitting the Caddy/Touran adjustable armrest... but the problem is: I can't find any! Allegedly, it is a rare and sought after item. I was told at my local breakers that about half of all Tourans got it but since the part often breaks many people want to replace it hence the high demand. I'll keep hunting.
Free'd up the spare wheel mechanism, about an hour working the bolts back and forward, no damage and bolts all good. Spare cleaned, pumped up and scooshed some clear lacquer on there for a bit of protection since my silver was out of propellant. Also cloned back panels and trimmed in gtd fabric
