@Stu_b I used 6mm (I think) ply on my rear door, plus carpet. Couldn’t get the handle to sit right and get the full movement on it. Also, the trim wouldn’t fit around it. Ended up mounting the handle behind the ply. It works, but doesn’t look quite as good .

Re: What did you do to your van today?
Today I ordered stereo upgrade for my Caddy Maxi 2017.
I got my Caddy yesterday and I am not impressed by the sound quality..
The stereo package includes GAS MAX S1-6D1 subwoofer with case specially made for Caddy. And a Match M 5.4DSP amplifier.
Can't wait to hear the difference!

Had to re-pin the chassis side of the Lambda sensor plug as the 1.6 and 2.0 are slightly different, then got the front suspension rebuilt and got the van back on it's wheels!
Then drove it all of 15 ft
. All that's left to do is fit the two new ABS sensors to the rear and it's MOT time.

What do you call those collapsible hinges that you've fixed to the door?the swan fiend wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 3:42 pm @Stu_b I used 6mm (I think) ply on my rear door, plus carpet. Re: What did you do to your van today?
@ Swan - I am possibly going to be going 9 or even 12 mm, so the fact that yours is recessed makes me think mine most definately will be - a LOT
@ Philsparky - I looked online here to get the parts, it would cost over $200 to get the parts in Australia (would be lucky to find a donor at a breakers) so approx 105 Pound / 120 Euro
As nice and as OEM it looks I think I will have to consider the lanyard option (of sorts) to fashion a handle / release for me
as lovely as Australia is, we are so fkn remote from parts it makes it so expensive

That’s pretty thick ply Stu! How come you’re using that?
I doubt after carpet you will get any trim clips long enough, someone used rivnuts to install theirs I saw recently, maybe that would be a solution.
@mac12. I just googled collapsible shelf hinges and the came up mate

Replaced a rather worn out bottom hinge…

Just need to wait on slightly better weather to repaint the scuffs from the door dropping a little due to the busted roller!
Door is buttery smooth now! Love it!

Re: What did you do to your van today?
@ Swannie I am planning to use the doors to creat a removable shelf so need something that can take the weight (considering the hinges n all)
I am also thinking about having a secret hidey hole or sorts in the panel so I can store a few little odds n sods
I was thinking to use rivnuts to fasten to the actual panel
so yeah, dont think the standard OEM looking handle will work in my situ
its a work and planning in progress

Replaced my tatty 9mm ply floor with a 12mm one. Glued rubber penny matting to it to stop my tools moving around while I'm rack-less
