Caddy conversion Abs coding problem

Post by K15urn »

Hi

Ive just converted my 2005 SDI caddy to 1.9tdi from a 2008 Touran, I have used the clocks key and ecu everything is up and running minus the glow plug wiring which is easy just haven't got around to it, however I am having some trouble with the ABS coding, i Have move the link wire from pin 25 to pin 19 and coded as a Touran 0017089, but i still get control module incorrectly coded, I assume its something todo with the Vin numbers?

My caddy has ASR and the Touran had ESP, I can code ASR out channel 90 but abs light still on the dash, ASR is coded back in just an FYI.

cant get the steering light off due to the abs prob,

any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum.
Did you find a Autoscan from a Touran with mk70 ABS pump to determine if the coding you have used is possible?
I suspect that although the Touran is listed as a coding option within VCDS, there may not have ever been a Touran with mk70.

No I didn't autoscan a touran , I still have the touran albeit with the engine etc missing, what are my options can I get it to work? Or can I fit the abs pump from the touran?

I've plugged this in quickly to odis and it says that the vin in the abs is different to that off the vehicle which is now seen as a touran.

How do I get the abs unit to accept the new vin, or do I need to get a new abs unit and fit?

Could I use the tourans abs pump? The only thing is the wiring plug is different but was thinking maybe I could swap the plugs with the help of wiring diagrams

Or if anyone could recomend someone who could fix this issue I'm willing to pay what ever, I have an mot due in a few months :(

If you have ODIS, you have the equipment to do it yourself.
Fit your original caddy instrument cluster, adapt the ECU immobiliser to that instrument cluster. Then fit the Touran instrument cluster and adapt that to the newly adapted ECU.
Then you have the correct VIN in your instrument cluster, ECU and ABS.

This also means your ABS will run the correct stability program for your chassis and not that of a Touran meaning it'll be safer for you and everyone on the road.

Sorry for the thread hijack - does anyone know if this is the same case with what I'm trying to do at the moment?

I've got a 2011 Touran 2.0 TDI, I'm moving the engine, gearbox, ECU and clocks into my 2012 Caddy. I'll put the Caddy key blade into the Touran key, so I don't need to change the locks. I've autoscanned both vehicles and they both appear to have the same ABS module (MK60EC1).

Assuming I do need to adapt the ECU/clocks/ABS etc. where's the best place to get the necessary bits for ODIS from? I'm assuming VCDS can't do what I need it to?

VCDS will allow you to code the ABS but there is little in the way of a long coding helper, you will need to copy across the coding from the Touran ABS.
Ideally, you would adapt the whole setup to your Caddy VIN and keep your ABS coding the same but to invest in ODIS to do this might be a little extreme.

@Doc - quick question, do I also need to need to move the link wire (as per the OP)? I've tried pasting the Touran coding in, however it reverts back to all zero's if I switch the ignition off.

The original post in this topic wasn't for a mk60EC1 ABS module, you don't have a link wire.
If the coding is accepted then it is correct, you need to do all the basic settings to make it "stick".

I was confusing myself with the ABS modules

It's does say "Coding accepted" initially, then reverts back if I cycle the ignition. What you said about the basic settings stuff makes sense, I think I saw a video about that by Ross-Tech.

Thanks Doc!
