Ex BT Caddy oil on top of engine

Post by Cartel1 »

I have just redurned from a long trip in my ex BT Caddy 1.6 Start Line and there is black oil sitting around the injectors on the engine block. I used a plastic pipette and removed around 100ml of oil from the sunken areas around the injectors. The low oil light did come on a couple of weeks ago and I topped it up,
There is no signs of it dripping on the floor when it's parked, only sitting on top of the engine.
Any ideas where it could be coming from?
Thanks
Terry

Ive something similar but not the same amount! Plan to replace all the seals and spill line rubbers as its a high miler now.

Yours looks like the seals around the injector (top), maybe #27 below?

It’s usually the injector seals passing. Seems to be quite a common issue. I have it on mine.
I was advised, after having 2 injectors replaced and seeing a bit of gunk a month or so later that the rocker cover may need to be changed as they can sometimes crack a little. My mechanic told me not to worry about it, but yours sounds like it could be a bit worse from what you’ve described.
Have you had any injectors changed recently?
