I have the same Year and Engine .. this year in summer i had also some troubles with starting. After 5-6 seconds at the Starter the Car was finally running. It quickly turned out that it was a failed Fuel Pressure Regulator. After changing no Problems anymore.
Maybe this will help you if you have checked all the Stuff written in this Topic.

Thankyou for your reply and suggestion., i will remember to mention it to the mechanic when he comes ot , tho i have to wait a couple of weeks yet.
PS. Oops my maxi is 2015 not 16.

Starting fine from cold but then not re-starting once warm (an hour, maybe two later) is a classic symptom of a bad starter motor on this engine. I've had it myself and have known a few others with the same where as soon as new starter fitted it's been problem solved. Of course there are plenty of other things it could be too.
Was exactly this on mine although mine is the older 1.9tdi where it’s a pretty common issue, starter was super easy to do and cheap and hasn’t give any starting issues since
I bought a '12 1.6 a couple months ago and get this issue as well. It always starts, but eventually. Exactly the same symptoms as others have had, it will start no problems from stone cold (-4 over the weekend and fired up after like half a second on the starter) but as soon as its been driven for 10 minutes or so it will crank for 3/4 seconds before it begins to catch.
I could see it being a FPR quite easily and will probably look into getting mine replaced, not sure how on the mechanics of it being a starter if it starts from cold fine, then needs a crank when slightly warmed?

Yep thats what mine turned out to be. Changed starter and all good now.
