Might have been my single scariest job so far. Fixing the rust at the end of the guide rails. And, while at it, fix some dings and dents.

Not a proper paint booth, but close enough for me to take on the job. Came out okay. Will need a proper sanding of the clear coat for sure.
But I will let it harden before touching it with the sander.

Got around to fit the freshly painted side rail covers, colour coded door handles and life side wing mirrors. Really nice to finally see the result of the hard work.

I also had the side trim colour coded. But with all this other parts painted on the side, I’m starting to question my decision.

The inside of the van is still a work in progress. Yesterday I had the plywood panel on the insides of the van covered with the foam backed suede. Starting to actually look comfy.Image

Well, I can’t really take credit for choosing red from factory. To be honest, I probably would have chosen another colour. But, I m also pleased to not have a white basic paint like every other work van or low spec car has here in Sweden :)

Great work so far!

Would you mind telling me what products you have used for all the sound deadening and insulation that you've done so far, and if you have noticed much difference while driving?

I still have some work to do on mine and was going to use mass loaded vinyl for the floors, but not many seem to be using that, so just trying to see what has worked well for others.

Thanks 👍🏻

Looks great, upholstering is a big gamechanger in the looks and feeling when you are driving!

Thank you! I can just agree with you. Feels like a different car by now. And there is still som upholstering to do.

Loving this build thread! Quick question on this - did you manage to get 10mm foam in the a pillers too with the plastic trim still fitting?

Thank you Maxiboi! Yes, the A-pillar trim still fits with issues. Seems like they have a pretty decent amount of space between the body and trim all over. Even have the 10 foam behind the B-pillar trim

Thank you Jobi1!

Of course! Im happy to share what Ive used so far!

Directly agains the body, where there has been a single metal sheet I've used first 2mm SilentCoat sheets (2mm butyl, self adhesive and aluminium top layer). Made a world of difference in the doors, flooring and wheel houses. I even used it on the roof and sides of the cargo area. I completely covered all the single panels with it.
https://www.silentcoat.co.uk/collection ... dening-mat

The I used 10mm EPDM (closed cell foam rubber). Ordered from AliExpress.
This I have covered the areas where the space is a little more limited, like in the cabin doors, flooring (both in the cargo area, but also under the mats in the cabin), A-pillars, Cabin roof etc.

For the sliding doors, the cargo roof area, side panels in the cargo space and the rear tail gate i used polyester insulation, made from recycled polyester. Might have choosen a little bit too thick material. Had to half the thinkness at some areas to make it fit.

Then covered it with bubble foil fastened with aluminium tape.

A-Pillars reupholstered and mounted!
Might have been the worst parts so far to reupholster. Had to redo one of them after almost completing it. And removing it wasn’t the most fun I’ve had in my life.

Now the colour of the dash and door cards seems a little bit of. Might need to source some nice dash and door cards from a Touran!

This looks great! I'm about to start mine, well after the leaf springs been fixed 🤞

It has plastic insulation in it instead of wool under carpeted panels, to avoid mold I've been told.

The blacked out plastics and trim look a lot more modern, it’s a job I want to do in mine as the standard colour trim looks really old fashioned to me, your caddy’s looking great so far

What a win, thanks for that, it’s definitely on my list! I look forward to your updates!
