sliding window water leak

Interesting that your window is leaking on the side of the fixed pane of glass where as mine leaks from the side of the sliding pane. The rubber gasket is on the sliding pane and seals the sliding pane against the fixed one. Is your van ok then flat? I cam only imagine that yours is leaking in the same place ( from the sliding pane ) and the water is running along?

Ah right thank you, I understand now. I think I need to go take a proper look as I suspect as you say the water is running from the sliding side along. It was quite easy to spot the water where I outlined on the picture. Possibly a job for the weekend but it sounds like a fairly straightforward thing to put right.

Just bought a Maxi Life & in todays rain Ive got the dreaded leaky window syndrome...I had a T5 a while back with the same issue & it poured in much to my kids displeasure . The assembly looks to be the same as the T5 so going to look at cleaning the drains & sealing up the frame channels, will post up some T5 stuff I used with some/limited success last time round. Final solution was new windows but wont be going down that route with the Caddy.

I'll wait for the rain to stop & have a play.

Both mine leaked and the drains were blocked from it seems factory.

I have the same issue, my passanger side sliding window fell out (landed inside the car) last july, I managed to get it fastened back in using M2 double sided tape but it leaks really bad now. I've removed the front passanger seat and the carpet and wadding underneath and that is all being dried out in my garage at the moment. I've used some 2" clear tape to seal round the window as a temporary fix but I am looking for a permenent solution. I have a 2017 Caddy Maxi Life with 35K on the clock, its otherwise in excellent condition so I want to get it sorted. I cant really see how the packing out of the seal has been done in the previous post, I get the theory but I can't see how you would do it in practice. I'd be grateful to know how to resolve it.

A bit difficult to diagnose but if it fell out is anything missing or broken or not installed correctly?

All I ended doing on mine was giving all the channels a really good clean and a thorough check over and I've not had any issues with it since then.

I've never had sliding windows in a car before and they seem basic, a bit crude but I suppose they do what is needed.

No nothing broken on it, there is a metal strip along the bottom of the sliding windows that you can only see when the unit is out, that was rusty and I think thats what caused it to come out. I cleaned that up best I could after removing original 3M type double sided tape and adding new 3M tape, then pushed the window unit back in.
I called another VW dealers today in Derby - I'm in Nottingham, they also told me they don't do that sort of repair and gave me the number for national windscreens in Nottingham. They have quoted me around £950 (inc vat) to fit a whole new sliding door window kit which they would source from VW. Interestingly they can do a after market whole unit WITH PRIVACY glass fitted for 293.88. I think that having privacy glass in just the sliding door window and not the rest of the vehicle would look wrong, even if I did both sides. Unfortunately you can't get an aftermarket sliding door whole window kit in ordinary slightly tinted glass like the original according to National Windscreens. They say that they don't do refits or re-seals, only new replacements. At the moment mine is sealed up with 2" clear sealing tape and is not letting water in, obviously you cant open it. When the weather gets a bit better I'll get the mastic gun out and that'll be that unless I can find another solution first.
