Pulled off the lower A pillar trim (the middle dark grey bit) to see if it gave me access to the back of the door loom for wiring in crossovers/tweeters. It didn't and I think I had a "ping, (OOOh look at me, I can curse) it" with the lower clip so if anyone knows the part number for those then let me know.

(trim still feels fairly solidly in place)

So then investigated the head unit end, discoverd that my head unit isn't actually bolted in!

However looks like I can split the speaker wiring and put crossovers/tweeter wiring in behind the head unit. There's plenty of room especially after I fished out the screwdriver, (long expired) debit card and assorted sweet wrappers that had somehow found their way in there!
