Well the dash is out! Took me a few hours but I’d rather take my time and do it properly. I’ve tidied and labelled some of the wiring that I’ve added over the years too…..there’s more to do once the centre console is removed.

I was a bit gutted I had to remove the A pillar trims….I hate fitting those!

There’ll be more updates to come over the next week.

Got a bit more done on the van today. Got the seats out, centre console and rubber mat out and replaced with Touran carpets and refitted the centre console. I also managed to mount my new tweeters in the OEM Touran mounts too. Image

I won’t have a lot of time tomorrow, so all I’m aiming to do is buy some speaker wire, and sort out the wires for the tweeters and wire in the crossovers. Hoping I can make a start refitting the dashboard on Friday.

Cheers Andy. Hasn’t been too bad so far, though I was a bit apprehensive taking out the dash (mainly due to all the electrical bits around the wheel) and I think I will be putting the new one in too…..trapping wires is my biggest worry so I’ll be very careful!

Yep definitely a lot of cables behind there but I suppose it will give you an insight into other hidden parts and how to get to them in future
Slow and steady and it will done before you know

Swan’s caddy build

Yes you’re right mate. I’m taking my time with it and learning as I go.

I hoovered the carpets and got the seats and speaker wiring done today. Next job tomorrow is fit the new dash and hopefully wheel if I get time, then onto the door cards and speaker replacement.

Nice one Pete.
When it comes to fitting your A post trims, slide them in at the bottom then get out of the van and look through the windscreen to align the clips, they are easy enough once you get the hang of them.

Well it’s in! Image
I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made today. Got my tweeters wired up too, I’ve located the crossovers just below the small window on the A pillar. I would have got the wheel on too, but I found a possible loose connection on the airbag loom and I’m not sure…….Image
Looks like a ground? I’m not sure!!

Anyway, it’ll get sorted out. I’ll be carrying on tomorrow!
