Quick airbag question

Post by the swan fiend »

Image
When removing my airbag the other day, I noticed a connection that was free. I went to refit it today and noticed this pin, which is part of a bar that goes all the way around the airbag which is not connected to anything. I’m not sure whether the connection should be fitted to it. It physically fits, I’m wondering if it’s a ground or not.

Chuck your knowledge at me gentlemen! Image

It connects to something in the wheel or clock spring.

Year and model wheel is from?

The airbag is the original caddy one mate, 2011. The airbag loom part number is 5K0971584A

Looks like you have dropped a bit down into the wheel etc as it should be the horn connection to the clock spring/car
The black connector?

Or is it the copper horn switch ones? See other two.

I don’t think it should be connected to anything. If it is that tube thing in my image.

Cheers Gary. I saw similar on eBay and google after my initial post. However it’ll take some serious force to bend that pin! But it can still be connected and physically fit back in the wheel as I’ve tried it.

I fitted the airbag today. I determined that the connection was for the horn. It completes the circuit when you push the airbag in.
