Trying to enable AUX on my 2005 Caddy with a RCD300 installed (silver button version)
But I keep getting coding rejected. Error 31: request out of range when trying to use VAG-COM to change the coding from 0020200 to 0020201
Anyone any ideas?

I don't think you can make the aux in work on a RCD300 with VCDS - well I never could, but maybe you can these days?
It was a few years ago when I did it on my van, but I used a set up from Connects2 that plugs into the back giving a jack plug. It goes in the socket for a 6 CD changer, worked perfectly on my RCD300.
Similar stuff available on ebay.

Re: RCD300 AUX enable issue (error 31)
I fitted an RCD310 from a golf or polo and my aux plugs into the rear (factory Aux socket) and the aux on/off enable is in the menu of the stereo under settings

Re: RCD300 AUX enable issue (error 31)
Quick update to this ...... Turns out I got my stereos mixed up and I had the Black Button version in the van, which wasnt compatible anyways,
Ended up getting a RCD310 from marketplace and purchasing the unlock code from Ebay.
Further investigation I found out that the bluetooth module is a seperate entity, so I have ordered a bluetooth adapter / microphone kit from Amazon, that should arrive today.
I'll update as i try them out.

Bugger, got the dreaded Battery drain with the 310. I thought it was a bit sluggish yesterday, but woke up to a dead battery this morning.
Anyone got any info about updating the firmware on the Canbus Controller, or should I look into just changing the unit out.

Re: RCD300 AUX enable issue (error 31)
Sorry to hear that, I didn't have any issues with mine using the rcd310 but it's a later van. I expect the stereo is not letting your canbus gateway / cem go to sleep and that's what's draining the battery. Updating the firmware on the CAN gateway would require the services of VW mate, not something anyone could do at home or an independent garage either. You'd be better going aftermarket I expect due to cost.
Maybe you could swap the module and get it coded - no idea what's involved exactly on the swap but VCDS could do it I expect if it came from a later Caddy and only needed the VIN coded to it.
The gateway module lives beside the fuse panel on the driver's side from what I can see in ErWin. The Bluetooth module is under the driver's seat below the mats inside a foam block and doubles as the phone hands free system. Even then they are usually mono and don't have the left channel wired up so when you enable Bluetooth audio / media, it works but only on the driver's side speakers without running an extra wire between the module and the stereo. Ask me how I know that lol.
