Heard a ticking sound on the motorway, then juddering like power was not consistent, then van dies a few moments later. Open the bonnet to see oil splattered everywhere in the engine bay. A pair of injectors are out of their seat. Pretty much the same issue as described in the links below.
Mechanic said he did the same job a month ago and it came to €2400 (incl. all 4 injectors replaced). Does this sound right? Are there cheaper ways of fixing it (do the injectors really need to be replaced?)
Makes sense to replace all 4 injectors. Also said the snapped bolt may be still in the engine and some work in removing it. There was some other hose/line broken too. But the videos I've found on youtube describe this as something that can be fixed DIY - is it that simple? Even still, the cost of injectors alone comes to about €1600 (4x€400).
I've read a lot on here about injector issues in the Caddy but after 5 years of ownership this is the first time I've ever had any injector issues.
It's a 2013 van, 300,000km. Timing belt is due a replacement too. So I'm wondering if it's time to say goodbye and scrap the van. Any thoughts? I'm worried that after spending upwards of €3k on repairs and maintenance, something else will go wrong soon anyway.

I had the exact same thing a month ago and made a Youtube video on how I repaired it. The whole job cost around £100.

Bit of a PITA to do but totally doable.
When mine snapped I ended up having to drill the bolt out which involved removing the rocker cover and cam carrier to do so. To remove the cam carrier the engine was timed up and at that point you may as well do the timing belt and water pump.
To fix i'd expect:
- Drill out the snapped bolt
- Heli-coil to accept the new bolt
- Replace injector seat washers, rocker cover gaskets/seals, injector clamp bolts
- Replace metal fuel pipes to injectors if damaged
- Timing belt and water pump if cam carrier is removed

mine recently went as well, all sorted with the not taking the rocker off. the snapped bolt worked loose with a set of metal picks, then I replaced the bolts, injector seals and also the lp fuel return pipe as I snapped some of the connectors as think it was the original pipe from new.
it sounds or looks a well scary job but it can all be done with basic mechanical knowledge.

Same injectors, mine were fine, had just pushed out budCarlsCaddy wrote: Is that including 2 brand new injectors? Or were the existing ones re-used?
