Rear window questions
Hi guys
Right my rear door windows have been blackened out with spray paint
So can I remove the paint with graffiti wipes n paint stripper then have them tinted professinally
Only I've been told buy the tinting guy that the rear elements r coated over the element on the glass
So will paint stripper remove the coating
He's said just scrap the element off you'll never use it
Not really the way I wanna go but he won't remove the paint
Other option is to get new glass which is the expensive route to go down
I don't want to ruin the elements n find it throws faults up on the dash plus it's fitted so rather keep it factory looking
Any alive on this
Only the spray really bugs me as car lights shine thro in places
Ta

Re: Rear window questions
you could always fit the metal security panels behind the glass ,that would stop car lights shining in and make your van more securePostman_bat wrote:Hi guys

Re: Rear window questions
try brushing brake fluid on and leaving it to soak for a bit, that will lift spray paint off glass.dont use paint stripper its too harsh.
careful of your body work with brake fluid tho, it will mark it. have a sponge and water ready in case you splash it.
cheers

Re: Rear window questions
Use thinners . Won't strip factory paint and will bring aerosol paint strait off . Use a small amount on a clean cloth keep changeling your cloth and will cum up like new .

Re: Rear window questions
Get the lot off. I'm getting my rears tinted and I'm deliberately taking the elements off. Looks cleaner. You won't get a fault code.

Re: Rear window questions
I took my heater lines off any put black vinyl on the windows.
Heater lines are easy to remove but ther will be traces of them unless you spend ages going over them to lift the orange adhesive from the glass. I used a fibre glass pencil but next time ill go for some form of power tool with mini sanding disc.

Re: Rear window questions
Do your windscreen at the same time then mate
Check your insurance I'm pretty sure most policies it's one excess payment for a lass claim so maybe cost you £50-100 excess for windscreen and back doors
