VAG fault scanner

Post by DownhillMaxi »

My engine management light has come on in my wife's seat leon

It runs fine and common faults on the forums seem to be glow plugs or exhaust sensor.

I don't know anyone with a scanner and I certainly ain't going to pay a garage just to plug it in, so can anyone recommend a scanner which gives you the fault codes

I have seen plenty of cheap ones on FleaBay but wondered if anyone had any experience with one and if it actually works

i bought a £20 cheap code reader off the bay to turn my airbag light off after my van flooded, it worked fine and has paid for itself already.

mate goto m&h autos in fratton charge 30ish quid and run a full scan telling you exactly what faults you got

found 6 faults on our mk5 golf and they advised what was what n sorted 3 there n then at no cost

even the drivers seat airbag fault advised it was best to get another seat and they'd reset rather than spend 500 quid from vw and stripping the seat and rebuilding it lol

good guys or theres lmk clanfield
