Do you know you have the legal rights to your salvage whether it’s a write off or not mate. Most people just let there insurance take it away and they will only sell it on to a salvage agent who will break it for parts or sell it on. If you tell your insurance you want to keep the salvage they normally knock 15-20% off the price they are going to pay you out.
Just a good way of getting more money towards your next vehicle mate. You could break it for parts or sell it whole as salvage. Just a thought for you to consider mate.
The wheel which was hit is a goner, split the alloy and bent it inwards. I will most likely buy the vehicle back as the engine will be good, only on 70k too.
Cabbs, hows that light ? Is it a w8 yeh? Where did you get it? Did it come with the adapter loom ? How much? I was looking at these, is it worth the money? I’ve already got footwell lights...... ta
@Rohtang666 Hi mate sorry about your van glad your ok though? If you do buy your van back how much would the complete engine be? Also if you have rear seats and the touran armrest I would be interested in all of this

Yeah I’m good thanks, luckily I wasn’t in the van when it happened.
I’m not sure about the van yet, as it would be a right chore breaking it I think. I have seen them on eBay for about 600-700.
I would get rid for cheaper if I went ahead with it.
I would prob keep the seats as I’m planning to get another caddy when it’s all sorted out.
@ Rohtang666. Gutted to see your lovely van damaged like that mate. Glad to hear you’re ok and you weren’t in it.
Hope you get it sorted one way or another smoothly mate.
Sorry to see your van get hit like that. Especially when parked. Glad your OK and hope you get things sorted through the insurance.
The next caddy should look as good if not better.
I salvaged a set from a golf at my local scrapyard and wired them into my replacement CECM (from a VW EOS) and after coding they work a treat, not sure if the Caddy ever came with the footwell option.
You could I suppose wire them into the back of the interior dimmer switch, not sure of the connection point though, there is a thread on the forum with details of the tapping point. This would make them dimmable with the rest of the interior lights.
So don't normally post about things I've done to my van, mostly because I'm always doin mods n stuff, but I'm really impressed with the difference this one has made to how the van drives,
Caddy subframe, Passat B6 wishbones, S3 bushes, what a difference in the handling
Hi Mate. Yes it is a W8 interior light. It was one of the cheap ones off AliExpress mate but seems genuine. Came in a genuine vw box and bag and is stamped vw. Ermmm think it was £20 mate. It comes with one end of the loom but there’s a “how to” on here pal to make the loom and it looks pretty straight forward to do. I’ve just ordered the loom parts from TPS mate for pennies.
