I just bought the cable for start stop deactivation from AliExpress, £8. Works a treat, 2 minutes install. Defaults to off and lights up the button, a few seconds after every engine start. Can be turned on by pressing the button yourself and defaults to off again on next start up.

Easiest way to fit it, pull up gear gaiter, put fingers underneath and push up the tray with the buttons on from the rear / middle (clips are tabs at the front and can't be pulled up from the front end - don't pry it up at the front or you will break the tabs) then unplug the switch and put the orange plug into the switch and the other end goes to the original switch plug. Bingo. Fitting instructions above of course for the MK3 F/L van, but not too hard on any model I think.

And thanks to the poster for the leaving home coding, I'd love that function too so going to try that this weekend.

£10.89 | For Golf 6 Multivan T5 T6 Caddy Scirocco beetle Automatic Stop Start Engine System Off Device Control Sensor Plug Stop Cancel

It's showing as £10.99 now but I had credit for a discount code so got it for £8 but it's still worth the money. No fuss no faff. Arrived in 5 days to Scotland.
