Thanks mate, and I know time flies!!! I'm putting it down to keeping up the ceramic coat. Not bad for a tilers work van

@the swan fiend cheers mate! Need to get some xenon headlights on it asap, think the halogens really let the front end down.

@Bahnstormer with some of the vans on here that's a massive compliment mate!

@gazza31112 - Totally agree, there are some really really nice vans on here and I'd be proud to own any of them, but it's the unique little details on yours that make it stand out for me, like the switchbacks in the fogs etc.

Now, onto a van that's not quite so nice  (Well, not yet anyway :D )

The weather hasn't been too great today, so I thought I'd concentrate on getting the interior out of the Touran and into the Caddy. All went in without too much swearing, except when I had to re-tighten the handbrake mech while the Touran console and vents were in situ. What a ballache! There's probably a much easier way to do it. Just need to swap the door cards over and it's done!

Image

Also swapped the Touran clocks into the Caddy, but not before swapping the speedo/fuel gauge foil over. Now I've got Touran highline clocks but the little arrow on the fuel gauge points to the correct side (yes, I'm THAT sad  )

Image

Yesterday we managed to get the Touran to the point where the engine is ready to come out, so tomorrow I'll (hopefully) pull it out and move it over to the Caddy. There's a couple of bits I need to look into as the Touran has a parking heater, so I need to see how the coolant/fuel lines work. I'm not using the parking heater in the Caddy as it looks like it's got very hot and partially melted at some point.

@Bahnstormer thanks again mate, your comment made me smile a good few times today!!
The switchbacks felt like a good idea at the time.
They have proved to be a bit of a nightmare to get working 100% right, wasted a good few £ trying!!!
I will get there eventually!

Your interior is looking good
Your braver than me pulling engines out I tell you that!
Good luck with the rest of it, hope it all goes smoothly

Got the 2.0 into the Caddy! In case anyone else should ever need/want to do this (1.6CR to 2.0CR), there are a couple of things that need swapping over:

1. The hydraulic line from the clutch master to the gearbox is different. Luckily, it's very easy to swap over and the mounting points are already there.
2. The top gearbox mount is different (5 speed is two bolt, 6 speed is three).
3. There's an extra fuel pump bolted to the driver side engine mount, which runs to the HPFP. This is a two wire connection, so should be easy enough to rig up (I haven't done this yet but will confirm). I'm not entirely sure what function this pump serves.
4. The 1.6 coolant lines are a direct swap if you need them. My 2.0 was taken from a Touran with a parking heater which I'm not using, so I had to swap the lines over.
5. I'm not sure if the CV joints need swapping on this one (02Q gearbox). On the face of it, they appear to be identical to the ones I removed from the Caddy. The same can be said for the gear cable connectors.

My little VW breakers yard

I also fitted a Powerflex dog-bone insert as I've always thought there was a little too much rocking action on startup and pulling away from junctions etc. The standard mount itself is in good condition, just very soft it seems. Hopefully this will make a nice difference!

Fitted some mint Seat Leon seats that were going cheap locally (£70 for the pair). My old seats were ripped, stained and smelt really bad. Very happy with the improvement!

Got some Audi Q2 wheels to fit tomorrow.

Started peeling the ugly wrap off my Caddy today. Looks quite nice underneath! Sorry for the bad light conditions in the after-picture.

Think I might have been a bit rough with it. Used a rotary rubber tool to lift the leftover glue residue, things might have gotten a bit hot and I scuffed the paint a bit:
Image

I'm unsure if it's heat damage to the paint or just leftover rubber residue from the tool, it has the same color and it kiinda feels like it's a bit different from the rest of the paint, but it's also looking similar to how the paint goes yellow if you heat it too much. Any ideas on what might buff it out?

Fitted Golf MK07 seats.... took a while to scrub and valet them... like new under the dirt & grime.
On caddy bases, the touran bases jacked them up too much to be comfortable.Image

Got it running! :D

Only temporarily mind you, there are still a couple of wiring bits to iron out, but we're nearly there! Also fitted the Touran headlights just because I wanted it to look like I'd actually done something

Image

Spent some time on Erwin, downloading every wiring diagram I could find and also discovered that the Touran I've taken the engine from has never had the emissions recall carried out :D .

Nice work.
The 2.0CR is a very desirable and viable replacement for the 1.6 motor, you'll never look back now.
