Thanks for the kind words everyone, and thanks for the tips/advice Dan it’s all much appreciated. The foil and tape was just something I came up with as whenever I looked for info on making full composite parts it was all moulds, as I didn’t have the equipment to do this I though I’d try a few things. This was the method that worked, I tried other ways but those ended up get cut/ripped off.

Definitely saw a speck of dust; bloody disgrace!

Couple more minor bits done. Replaced my hose clamps for some Murray constant tension clamps (no issues with my old ones, I just think they look cool). I saw them on Vicky Ellison’s stunning black beetle a couple of year ago, but totally forgot that I needed them.
Then I made some little Carbon Fibre covers for the top edge of the radiator and fan shroud. I used 15mm and 25mm pre formed Carbon Fibre angle from Easy Composites. As I have the weave direction change on my front parts I made them in two half’s and then bonded them together with epoxy. Once I had the shape I also gave them a run down and lacquered them as they weren’t very glossy originally.

Before @Stedlocks points it out, I’ve since been and cleaned the dust of my DV valve .

High winds decided to rip a few tiles off my roof last night and gravity decided to deposit them on my bonnet and front bumper and grill. Gutted I’m going to have to get the bonnet painted to be honest. As like the rest of the main body, it’s still the original factory paint, and in my opinion they are never quite the same after paint.
The van was also due to be on display at Elsecar at the races in Doncaster this weekend. Which I was looking forward to, as I haven’t been a Doncaster car show since about 1998, I’ve obviously had to cancel that now. Fingers crossed the van gets accepted for Players show at Goodwood, as that’s currently the only other show I’ve applied for this year.
Knackered roof and a knackered van, today is not a good day.

Yeah it sucks.
The dent in the bonnet should PDR out so at least I won’t need a new bonnet, going to need paint though which is bad enough.

No room in my garage unfortunately, as I have a classic Mini Cooper Sport that lives in there, and the van is my daily driver so garaging elsewhere just isn’t an option.

Love the Murray clamps and the new carbon additions, hate the damage to the bonnet etc. What a pain. Hopefully you can find decent paintshop who can live up to your exacting standards.

I know what you mean about repainting parts. It seems to stone chip a lot more readily. You could get the front end liquid ppf'd after its repainted. Logic VPC https://www.logicvpc.com/liquid-protection-film/ are moving to Coventry* although thats still a trek for you, and they are competitively priced. Means you get the self healing qualities of ppf but without the line where the film finishes and the weird effect it can have on paint where the alcohol spray used to install it is trapped under the film - look through polarised sunglasses or a camera lens with polarising filter at ppf and you can see a 'petrol on water' effect. Plus they can peel it off without damaging the paint as its not using glue to stick like ppf or vinyl.
