Thanks for the messages all.

Interesting stuff that Dan. That the worst thing about where I live, miles away from anything.

Sorry to see the damage mate hope you get it all sorted and back to looking as nice as it was before.

I think you’re right with anything painted though, stonechips seem to riddle new paintwork like mad.

Love the engine bay! I keep buying lottery tickets to try and match what you’ve done, but I don’t think the money bit would even get mine to your standard 😂

Thanks both.

The PDR bloke managed to get the majority of the dent out, just the initial impact point remains so this will need a little filler to sort. Vans booked in the week starting 8th to be painted Image nervous times.
The grill I’ve started skinning in Carbon, which is testing me.
Headlight I’ll remove, rub down and re-lacquer when it goes to the bodyshop.

Going to be a common theme over the new few weeks, as I’ve been busy doing more parts in Carbon fibre.
I started with all the small trims and door release from the rear door, but things sort of got out of hand after the front grill got damaged and I installed the standard front bumper in prep for the van going to be repaired. Got the rear door parts finished and installed today.

Top work mate. I’m amazed that the trim just above the bumper is standard! Can that be carbon skinned too?

Cheers Pete.
Yeah it’s actually the only on show untouched piece of plastic on the van. Unfortunately it takes a bit of hammer with the dogs, bikes and tools so it would only end up getting ruined if I trimmed, skinned or painted it.

That’s a fair point. Maybe you could get another one and skin it to use for shows.

Front grill and all the front bumper trims carbon skinned. After the grill got damaged I had nothing to loose so gave it a go. It took a couple of attempts to get it to a point I’m happy with, but I’m pleased with it now. I’m looking forward to getting it built back up once I’ve painting the insert behind the badge.
I made one mistake with a couple of the other bumper parts, but I’ll leave that for you to work out (it’s fairly obvious). I’ll have to see if I can live with it or get some replacement trims and redo them.
Not quite sure how the bigger parts will fair as obviously they wouldn’t fit in the oven so I’ve been relying on the sun to try and post cure them. Going to give them a wet sand and polish this coming week once they have sat a while.

I think I now know why there’s a global shortage of carbon fabric…….

Fantastic work as per usual. Really impressive that you’re tackling such tricky things as the grill and then upping the difficulty by doing the join in the middle.

Are you using a fibre lock fabric?

Thanks lads.

Cheers Dan, although I cheated with the V on these latest pieces as I managed to get some pre woven V fabric from Easy Composites, which obviously made life so much easier.

No I haven’t been using the fibre lock fabric, just the standard 210g 2x2 3K fabric.

:o :) I’m impressed! that’s some proper work/art right there. All those tricky things and details, it’s awesome to see people doing bits that are not visible to others, but you know it’s there :) Would be cool to start a business, but I can imagine the time it takes and the stress
