Hey Ian. I couldn't open the door from inside the van (or only occasionally and my kids never). Whilst I had the door apart I tried to adjust things but could not get the locking mechanisim out to see what was going on. Eventually I decided to fit an extra cable which attaches to the mechanism at the back of the door, much like the thing I fitted to my hatch so you can open from the inside. I found when I took the door off again that the cable had gone behind part of the mechanism and was preventing the lock working properly. It was a simple fix (if you call removing the door and pulling off the shag pile to start again easy!!) and only took an hour or so. Given that I had plenty of time left I decided to add another two windows so the kids can see out as well as the dogs.

A great weekend all round. Cheers Woody

Good (ish ) news. A metal fabricator straightened it out super quick for £30. So not to bad other than it burned the paint off and they will never be the same unless I repaint them all. I'm heartbroken...I don't know how you blokes with really nice cars cope!! On an even more positive note we're back on for Sunday at VAG. Hope to see some of you there regards Woody

Loving the interior and the effort involved.

The wheels and windows though.... :(

Cheers Mate. You should see mkvanman's van. Similar beige touran but with dark brown leather. Proper lush. No windows (or doors for that matter!) and nice wheels.

Sorry it looked such a state. I thought I had missed the opportunity to show as I had read on the website that you had to be there by 9 and have registered in advance by email. When I arrived at 10.30 I was told that I was showing and to get down there!!

Having finally had a bit of nice weather and parts arriving I have finally finished the inside around the windows.

I also fitted a cable inside the door that allows you to open it from the inside as the inner handle doesn't always work. It's the purple dice above the handle.

I'd like to say I all done now but having seen some of the other vans at the show I have been thinking about how to install a bed. The seats fold down and I reckon I can use the plastic boxes to provide a bit of a base and keep some storage. However right now I have a 1989 Vespa to get back on the road so the van will be taking a back seat for a while.
