Hi everyone. Started looking and posting a while back while looking for a tailgate caddy. Finally found one, Facelift, 30Kmiles much more than I wanted to pay and further than I wanted to travel. I couldn't put up with my interim ride any more (Ford KA) so took the plunge.




Pretty bog standard, generally clean and tidy but a few small dings here and there. I found it quite alright to drive, not blisteringly fast but over 600 miles on a tank seemed pretty awesome to me. I saw a post about a guy who had put wood stuff on some of the panels. I note that there were a few "not to my taste" sort of comments, but since I have always wanted a Woody I thought this was a look I might go for, though I realise the mix between retro and modern will be a difficult balance.

It was then that the trouble started. Damn you lot. Every time I look on here there is another great idea I need to do.

In the month I have had it I have done quite a bit. Welded Touran rear seats in (not me, don't know how). Smashing the floor out of a 3 year old van was a bit nerve racking.

Then fitted Touran/caddy life center console. Easy job, don't know what all the fuss is about, however I did remove the bulkhead floor and seats and dismantle the console. Even so it doesn't take that long.

I then set about looking for front seats as, like everyone says, the standard ones are pretty uncomfortable. They are not that bad...but after 4 hours you know you have been sitting one.

Next drama. Found a Touran leather interior so decided to go for it and take out every thing I had just put in. Oh and its lairy tan coloured.




So that's kinda where I am now. The seats are all fitted, I've got a dash to go in, door rail cover, Touran door cards and window mechs, and I'm thinking about Cruise control while the dash is in/out

If anyone does a bit of VCDS around Plymouth, I'd be grateful for some help (moral support, laughing and drinking tea etc.)

How much did the interior cost you?

Id love to see 'woody' panels on the outside.... ie immitation wood not the personal one

How about vynil wrap that way it can always be peeled off but please get some decent looking timber

Hi I paid £800 for the 5 seats and interior which included all the tan trim and door cards. When I drove up to Slough to collect I found that it wasn't everything I had expected and ended up paying another £500 for the complete dash, carpets, centre console, winder mechanisms (inner cards) but had to come back the following week. I had to badger them to make sure all the bits were there the following week and got the vents and brackets for the dash but later found that I was missing the dash trim and top box cover and window switches and door handles. They also promised to cut out the Touran floor panel for me to sell with my old seats but had got rid of the car before I got back. I'm not sure if it was a good price or not, but think if I had bought everything separately it would have been considerably more. The downside is that I wanted to do a bit at a time as I could afford it. Need to get rid of my interim car soon as (won't be sorry to see the back of the KA...so small aghhh!!).

Deffo Vinyl but was a bit concerned about how long it would last. Can't decide how much to do or design/style of wood. I want a sort of dark teak colour but also want a contrast with the trim strips which I intend to dip in wood. Probably just up to the trim strip to keep it a bit subtle and dip the badges in wood as well. I think I am heading for a sort of boat look and want a teak and holly deck inside and I am currently try to track down small portholes to go in the sides. I'd like a vinyl roof too (like real vinyl think Mk 2 Cortina) but might go for a carbon wrap instead as I'm not sure about gluing something on permanently.

Aside from the cost, this is great fun.

More stuff on the van today. Fitted the side rail cover. Slightly disapointed as I think it is a different colour. Not to worry beciuse it will get sorted when I get it coded.
Still looks pretty awesome though. Great mod ultra easy (I used an allen key in the spine bolts quite ok)

The got on with soundproofing with rattle mat. The cheapest I found on Ebay (cos i'm like that!).




Then got onto trimming the trims under the seats. Worked well with a tin snip and a pen knife (Swiss Army kicks butt). If you scrape it along the plastic it takes off a thin flake which you can peel off with you fingers. Just keep going until its enough.


Then started trying to fit Toran boot liners in. Loads of trimming and cutting later I think this might just work.

Fitted centre seat belt on my Touran centre seat last night. Simple and quick job. There are two spline screws in the underside of the seat (same size as centre console crews). Side panel lifts off, undo the spline bolt holding the seat belt socket on replace with the new one and put it back together.


At this point I couldn't get the holes to line up so needed to trim a bit of plastic off - about 2mm from the lower stubby bit

Brandnew Wolfsburg in Tan so it matches my interior...£15 plus postage from USA. Love it.
