Re: My £200 ex-worker van
Sorry no updates in a while,
We've been having a few problems with the ECU and the turbo. In order to get the turbo working properly it needs the proper ecu that controls around 7 vacuum hoses to allow the valves to operate correctlly. We have managed to get such ECU but also the ECUs are programmed to the set key and this may also result in the dash consoles to be aswell..On discovering this and me needing my own vehicle for royal wedding weekend we have stopped work to get my other project on the road as its easier to be done.

Re: My £200 ex-worker van
Sorry guys not a lot has been going on over the past few months I have been trying to source a complete wiring loom for the conversion...so far dealt with various monkeys that tell me its complete then post it cut off at the bulk head...also trying to figure out how to lay out the back to house surfboard/snow boards and possibly a small bed...in which I have measured out and being the short a*se I am, the back is long enough for me :p ....hopefully something to report soon as I’m getting annoyed at it being sat doing nothing.

Re: My £200 ex-worker van
I have worked on many different engine conversions and you always find you need the ecu and transponder to pair up with the engine , a non turbo sdi ecu was never going to run the tdi setup as its missing all the various sensors that the turbo uses, most of my experience is with vauxhalls and they use the same ecu but different software that can be swapped between models for example the 1.0 corsa c runs the same ecu as the astra vxr 2.0 turbo.
The ecu can be reprogrammed on these to your key or a new transponder and to your engine type and i wonder if the vw setup is the same???

Re: My £200 ex-worker van
What I have found is that with the standard ecu the engine runs but the turbo is either fully open or fully shut because the TDI runs a variable vein turbo and the sdi loom doesn't accomodate the and appears to be in a Safe mode maxing out at 50mph...
I have spoken to various people and there is a way of placing a new ecu from another VW for the turbo setup and have the immobiliser system removed so that the original key will work.

Thats what the place we found said to do by bypassing the Immobiliser in the ECU....where are you based? how much do you charge for it?

Erm.....it's been put on hold again while I fix up my Mini and keep it going during the show season etc....the wiring loom is the main item, its £300+ from VW and trying to find a second hand/salvage one is really tricky because people just cut them off at the bulkhead...As for the key, dash etc there are places that will reset or bypass these issues to get it running we found a place in Banbury area said he could do it and performance chip it for £300-350..
Thanks it'll get there at some point, I have started collecting the items to do the interior but don't get much oppurtunity very much
Here is my project mini photo album to see where my time has been...http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 099&type=3
