Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Gave it a good clean recently, even though it’s pitted again already.
Bit of help from photoshop to make it look like it’s being driven.

Ha I actually thought you’d set a camera up to take that photo.

Awesome looking Van mate! Just read your build thread from start to finish!
Love everything you have done to it, especially the Bed part, with the bulkhead curtains! This is what im wanting to do when i get my Caddy!
The mk5 GTI seats are soooo classy in my opinion

Thanks very much. Seats are easily my best purchase (or maybe the remap), as it makes it so much more comfortable to sit in.

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Since fitting the door speakers I’ve realised how much I enjoy listening to music in the car/van. So went a step further and decided to fit a sub.
Sound deadened and insulated the footwell.
Made a box out of MDF to fill/fit the shape of the footwell. Copied the design off one I seen online. Carpeted in GTi cloth. Bit tricky as the cloth doesn’t stretch. 10” low profile sub fitted.
Box fitted and wired in. All other wiring now in place. Just the final connections to the amp, then to secure that in place in the under seat compartment.
Remote bass boost controller fitted to centre console
Pretty much all done,
And finally seat refitted and all that work never to be seen again

Great build, read through the full lot!
Guilty of stealing your idea on the engine cover, never seen that design fitted on a caddy, usually the more standard cover, the one you used is a much bigger one that suits the engine bay well. I’ve bought the same one and planning to mask off and paint mine the same design just with my body colour

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Thanks Eric
We all get ideas from each other on here. I’m sure I’ve taken most of mine from someone.
Current plan is to finally sort the dash top box. After a couple of homemade attempts that have eventually had problems. I’ve now got designs sorted to have something 3D printed. Hoping to have it sorted by the weekend for tatton park

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Finally got round to fitting the BMW number plate lights. Was sick of replacing the LED lights I was using. Those constantly corrode due to water getting in them. Thanks to Pete for the how to which alerted me to the mod.
Also fitted a metal skid plate under the engine bay. Downside is I’ll have to clean the engine bay now. Hopefully this helps keep it cleaner.

Great build… how did you get on with a top box?
I take it your 3d printing one as the lhd never fits correctly?

Re: Reflex Silver Caddy (66)
Actually, the fella came round today with 1st prototype. Checked the fitment and we just need to adjust the position of some clips to line up better with those of the dash.
Still needs some work but looking promising. He wants to get the design right so he can print and sell more for other people wanting one.
The final design will still need a vinyl wrap on to help it blend in better with the dash. Some leather look wrap should work best.
He actually had problems with his large printer breaking down too. So for the prototype he printed it in 3 parts and glued together. I’ll get some pics of the prototype tomorrow and share.
