Hi guys never had this problem before it’s always been fine, just nipped to the shop when I got back in to start it the key will only turn a tiny bit the steering lock isn’t on and won’t come on no matter how much you turn the wheel I’ve sprayed some wd40 in it and after wiggling it about for 5 minutes it turned and started, I’ve got home tuck the key out put it back in and it’s done it again but can’t get it to turn again, has anyone got any idea what could be wrong ??

Ignition key lock barrel could be worn. Have you tried your spare key in it?

Sounds like your ignition key lock barrel is faulty then as I can't see two keys being worn out. What year is your Caddy mate?

Just read your original 1st post again and it could be the separate lock housing that's faulty with your steering wheel lock not working/operating. You will need to dismantle the whole ignition key/lock housing assembly to find out whats going on mechanically.

You're probably going to need a new ignition barrel, the coded part at least.
Get in touch with a local auto locksmith as they should be able to build it up for you to suit your keys.
Failing that, a used ignition barrel and key blade from a newer VW can be fitted but it won't match the door locks.
This is all dependant on you removing your current ignition barrel which requires it to be turned to the ACC position.

I've not been up there for over two years buddy.
Contact Tom at Immotec in Hull, he'll be able to sort you out.
